So this is kind of going to be an alternate version of the first part, i couldn't make it it's own chapter bc it was so similar so this is just a part 2 i guess.

Dedicated to KateBishop2021 bc she made me happy when she complimented the book today, and I need that sweet dopamine

Enjoy :)

It was nights like these when Ahsoka questioned the sanity of the Jedi council.

If they were the ones out in a hastily dug trench, afraid to sleep in case they were ambushed, practically waiting for death to take half their troops, maybe they'd think differently about sending Padawans to lead entire companies to their death.

But she couldn't dwell on that now, she had men who were counting on her. Ahsoka was leaning heavily on Rex. He had encouraged her to get some sleep, reassuring her that they likely wouldn't even be awoken in the night. The last wave of droids had been taken out, and they were now only here to make certain there was no more danger. She promised she'd get sleep- as soon as the adrenaline wore off and her heart stopped racing.

It wasn't going so well.

I know who'd fix this, She told herself.

Anakin would give her a sleep suggestion if she really couldn't sleep, but would encourage to her to meditate to try and calm down, offer a shoulder to sleep on, and do his kriffing best to make sure she took care of herself. He'd make everything okay again.

But he wasn't here.

Her master was off fighting his own battle somewhere across the planet, likely only thinking about her when he got a break, hoping she was doing alright. In an act of bravery she tugged lightly on their bond and sent a silent, are you busy?

She fell into a meditative state the moment he replied back. Nope. Ahsoka sighed in relief as she thought of what to respond with. She cherished the times when she'd be able to talk to him, even halfway across the planet, and especially through their bond. A dyad came in handy. It was somehow more calming to feel him through their bond than it was to see him on a hologram, something about that physical connection brought her peace when the world around her felt like a raging storm.

I miss you.

She could practically feel his empathetic sigh. I miss you too. Just a few more days. We're packing up camp tomorrow, and we'll meet back at the Resolute then.

Ahsoka smiled, both in real time, and her version of a smile through the force. Peace, contentment, comfort, was sent across and returned almost instantly. I'll see you soon Snips, get some sleep.

She sent an agreement and goodbye, returning to the physical world just in time to see Fives. He had something in hand, a cloak it seemed. "Commander?" He asked, using the title only out of formality. It always felt a little wrong coming out of Fives' mouth, his usual nicknames nowhere to be found. "Brought you something."

He handed over the cloak. Ahsoka was confused, furrowing her brow. The clones knew Togrutas ran warm and probably wouldn't need a cloak, but the moment it dropped down onto her lap she understood.

Motor oil, caf, and a hint of something metallic.

Ahsoka brought it up to her face for a longer whiff of the familiar smell. Fives only smiled and backed off, leaving her and Rex alone again. "What's that, sir?"

"Anakin's cloak. I thought I forgot it, apparently not."

He smiled down at the girl folded up against his side, pulling her a little closer. She draped the robe over herself as he pulled her in, sighing in contentment. "Think you can sleep now?" He asked. She nodded, curling into the plastoid armor that couldn't be particularly comfortable. "Night, little'un."

========

Ahsoka bounded off the transport. Sure, she was smelly, covered in dirt, probably injured and undeniably hungry, but right now she needed to see her master. His campaign didn't last quite as long as hers and she knew he'd be here waiting. The girl scanned the hanger bay for her master, coming up short. She could settle the troops later, besides, that really was Rex's job anyway; right now Anakin came first.

She walked the familiar hallways to the General's quarters, not hesitating to throw open the door a moment after she knocked, not waiting for a reply. Anakin was sitting on the edge of his bed with a data pad when she intruded.

"Okay so I'm really grimy and I need to shower, but I also really needed to see you first," She rambled. Anakin stood from the bed with a smile plastered across his face, walking a few steps towards her. He was about to hug her when she cautioned, "I told you, I'm nasty, you probably don't-"

He wrapped her in a hug, dirt and all. "I'll take another shower then."

So I was gonna make this super angsty and depressing and then just couldn't bc I'm like that.

I hope you see your favorite people and mental health treats you well today.
