The night poured in through the curtains as the draft spilled into the room from the cold dark sky. The curtains fluttered gently as the wind blew around the room.
A chill ran down Janus' spine as he stirred to face the wall. Blinking slowly, Janus' eyes soon awoke him from his slumber. Buzz buzz. His phone echoed through the room as it rang like a morning bell.
Buzz buzz.
The phone's white light gleamed across the walls as Janus rolled back to his orignal position. Reaching out, Janus grabbed his phone and cheaked the caller ID. It was Remus.
Answering the call, Janus lay back into the warmth of the bed. "...Hello?" He muttered quietly, the croak of his voice barely registering in the phone.
Rubbing his eyes harshly, Janus waited for a reply on the other side of the line. Several moments of silence went past before Remus spoke, "Do you hate me?" He whispered, his words forming slowly, his voice was gravelly and it seems he had only woken up a few minutes before himself.
His question lay heavy in the air, "No, I don't hate you," Janus told him, his voice clearly gentler than before.
"Would you ever hate me?" The other line buzzed quietly as a fly flew across the room. You could almost hear it's wings flap.
Instinctively, Janus reached to the scarred side of his face. Smiling softly, Janus breathed, "Who knows," Janus replied honestly, the sound of a disappointed sigh echoed through the phone. "...but right now...I don't really think I could truly hate you," Janus continued.
"Really?" Sometimes it's easy to forget that under Remus' brutal honesty about his every thought, he was indeed, just still a kid. It was reassuring in a way. It just proved that he was human.
"Mhmm, why wouldn't I?" Janus asked.
"Well, maybe I said something too bad, or did something wrong or you just finally got bored of me," Remus explained, the sound of him sitting on his bed blew through the phone.
Chuckling lightly, Janus smirked. "What is it?" Remus grumbled, "I thought we were having a moment," he scoffed.
"We are," Janus reassured as he calmed down, "Remus Layor, last time I cheaked, our fates were interwined eternally are other bullcrap," he snorted, "I could never get sick of you, and if I did, we'd find our way back to each other,"
"Good luck dealing with my bullshit for the rest of my life," Remus' mood lightened up.
Rolling his eyes, Janus replied back, "Yeah, yeah, love you too," he half-heartedly remarked back to him.
Sighing contently, the two stayed quiet for a moment, "You mean that?" Remus questioned.
"Mean what?"
"That you love me too?" The phone mumbled back.
Janus' eyes shone in the reflection of the moon as he opened the curtain slightly, his face glowing in the dark, "Of course I mean it, why would I say it if I didn't," he felt a smile from the other side of the red string. "I'm going to try and sleep some more, do you want me to stay on call or hang up?" Janus asked Remus.
Closing the curtain and laying back againest the back of his bed, Remus spoke again, "Could you stay?"
"Of course,"
