Trigger Warning: Food mention, reference to previous abuse,
The two sat on their sofa as per usual. Though one of the trio had stopped joining them for a while.
Logan fiddled with his hands as he couldn't focus on the words that were on his page as the words in his mind always wondered away into another book. Nothing could help him get back to reading. He slipped the book mark into the book as he placed it back on the side table. Sighing loudly, he lent back and stared at the ceiling. Occasionally he missed the patterns in his last apartment but now he has a new Patton.
He recalled the swirls of colour that were painted on it. But man it did take a while to paint back then.
"Is Yvette avoiding me?" Logan thought aloud.
Patton turned towards Logan, "I don't know," he told him with concern. Moving closer, Patton took Logan's hand and gave him a comforting smile. Logan looked mildly shocked as he didn't realise he was speaking aloud. "I can talk to her if you want?" Patton suggested.
He hummed in response, nodding slowly, "Thank you," Logan replied, intertwining his fingers with Patton's as they sat. Patton lay his head on Logan's shoulder sighing contently as the freckled man lent on top of his head. Soon Logan cracked his head to the side and placed a warm kiss upon Patton's forehead before going back to watch the TV.
Breathing out loudly, Patton whispered to Logan, "I really need to pee,"
Removing his head with a chuckle, Logan freed Patton as he hopped over to the bathroom. He decided after that he'd talk to Yvette about Logan. Patton didn't want the two people he loved to not get along, he really doesn't want to upset either of them because they both mean the world to him.
When Patton flushed the toilet, he washed his hands and went straight to knocking on Yvette's door.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
"Yvette, can I come in?" Patton asked.
Silence.
"Yvette, I'm coming in,"
The door cracked over with a twist of the door knob. Yvette was sitting on her bed, just simply looking out of the window to her right. You really couldn't see much out of the window other than the building next to theirs. Slowly Patton closed the door and came over and sat next to Yvette.
"Are you okay kiddo?" Patton asked. The two remained in silence as Yvette did not reply to Patton, "You've been rather distant for a couple of days and you didn't answer the door when I knocked. I'm worried kiddo,"
She ignored him as she continued to gaze out of the window into the small slip of town they could see from there, "Is there something bothering you?"
Silently she shook her head. But then she hesitated before nodding. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Shrugging, she tucked her legs closer to her chest, resting her chin on her knees as she refused to remove her gaze from the window, "What are you looking at?" Patton asked, now looking through the glass.
Once more she shrugged at his question, "Would you like to talk more after dinner?" He smiled, Patton patted her shoulder. "I can get you a snack while you're waiting?"
"...Thanks Dad,"
"No problem," Patton replied before leaving the room to grab her a snack. He got her one of those delicious cake bars, small but leaves you craving for more and then suddenly you've eaten all 20 of them in your house.
Patton gave her the snack and soon left her alone in her room to give her space.
Yvette's room was painted a peach colour along with flowers trailing the bottom, courtesy of Logan, and she had yellow carpet. Each of the flowers symbolized either family, or love, or happiness. Lilacs, hyacinths, gardenias, roses, peonies, sunflowers, tulips, daffodils and daisies. A cloud light hung from the ceiling, illuminating the room with a soft, fluffy, warm glow. Her bed was pushed up againest the wall, right next to the window and her drawers and wardrobe was next to it. She had a toy box at the foot of her bed and a desk with all sorts of bits and bobs scattered on it. Several stacks of boxes lay beneath the desk filled with all sorts of things she'd collected over the years and one box dedicated to the things that her mother gave her well other than a slap for doing anything wrong. Glow in the dark stickers were printed all along the top of the walls and the ceiling that greeted the cold night with a hug. Stickers were placed all along the window sill when she first moved in, she and Patton had a bunch of sickers that they'd never used before and decided to use it for interiors design, it was a messy process but to her it's always a piece of art.
Sighing quietly, she took a small bite out of the cake bar, delighted, she took another and another and another until it was all gone. She crinkled the wrapper into a ball and shoved it into her cardigan pocket. Laying back made her realise how tired she was.
Insomia had gotten the best of her those last few days. All she could think of her revelation a couple of days ago. Betrayal kept her awake, it kept her thinking, it kept her focused. But not on work like she should be.
Soon she decided to do a bit of school work, maybe a bit of math. She liked math, even if she didn't understand much of it, she usually went to Logan for help with it since he's so smart. But she can't, well, can't I mean she doesn't want to.
Rolling her chair out from under her desk, Yvette grabbed a pen and the last bit of her math problems from the math book she wanted a while back. In fact, she was almost done with the entire book.
Struggling, she put down the pen and moved the book to the side and grabbed her colouring book and crayons. Turning on the light and turning the page, she grabbed a crayon and began colouring quietly.
"Yvette! Dinner!" Patton called from the kitchen.
Using her crayon as a book mark, she closed the page and turned the lamp off before joining Patton and Logan for dinner. Before sitting down, she put her wrapper in the bin then came back to join the other two.
After dinner and doing the dishes, Logan retreated back to his room to do one of the word searches in the word search book he'd purchased for entertainment. Though, his mind was still clouded by worries.
"About earlier..." Yvette mumbled. Patton's ears perked up at the sound of her voice, "I just...I guess I'm...um..."
"Come on, sit with me kiddo," He smiled warmly, patting the seat next to him on the sofa, "It's okay, there's no judgement in this household,"
"Mm," She hummed as she sat to the side of the seat.
"It's alright, come inside, and talk to me," Patton hummed to the tune of Talk To Me by Cavetown as he held out his arms, "We can talk here on the floor, on the phone if you prefer? I'll be here until you're okay," He sang as Yvette reluctantly accepted the hug before melting into it, "Let your words release your pain, you and I will share the weight," Yvette began quietly sobbing in Patton's arms.
"It's just dad..." Yvette mumbled between breaths, "What if...what if...what if he..."
"You're worried?" Patton concluded as he softly patted her hair.
She shrugged as she burried her face in Patton's shirt, trying to hide her face, "It's alright kiddo, it's nothing to be embarrassed about,"
"It's alright to cry kiddo, it's okay," Patton told her as she cried in his arms.
