When the four got home, Patton and Logan flipped a coin for whoever would have to wake them up: Logan chose heads and Patton chose tails. Unfortunately for Patton, it landed on tails.
"Huh?" Janus mumbled, opening his eyes slowly as Patton gently tapped him awake. Rubbing his eyes he looked up at Patton who looked like his usual self.
"We're home Janus," Patton told him before ruffling Janus' hair which was still slightly damp and straw-y from the water park. After leaving Janus to wake up and get into the apartment, Patton went to the other door and went to wake up Yvette.
Blowing into her face for a second, Yvette's eyes fluttered opened, "Dad?" She muttered, yawning as she stretched her arms out in the cramped car.
"We're home, Logan's inside the apartment okay?" Patton told her, "I'm going to grab the bags so make sure you wake up before I lock the car," He smiled before patting her head softly. Leaving her to wake up, Patton opened the car boot and grabbed the two bags they took with themselves.
"Come on kiddo," Patton said as Yvette sluggishly got out of the car, dragging her feet slightly as Patton closed the door behind her.
When they got back to the apartment, both Janus and Yvette went to go take a nap in their rooms. Well, technically Janus' room was Logan's but since Logan slept in Patton's room, it might as well be his at the moment.
Today was Logan's day to cook. Sitting across from the kitchen, at the breakfast bar, Patton watched as Logan worked. "Any idea when Janus' boxes will be mailed here yet?" Logan asked as he chopped up some carrots.
"No idea, they said it'll be soon though," Patton told him as he said cross legged on the chair and looked through the letters that he'd retrieved from downstairs. "By the way, you've got a cheak up on Wednesday Lo,"
"Thanks amica mea,"
"I feel like it's been forever since you've called me that," Patton pointed out with a bright smile on his face. It was true he really did miss the nickname, but he missed having Logan home more.
You couldn't see but Logan was smiling as he took apart the broccoli. "Well, I'll be calling you it more," He teased as he put the broccoli aside and went over to Patton. Kissing him gently on the cheek, Logan slightly fell forwards as he grabbed the table for support.
"You smell like broccoli," Patton smirked as he kissed Logan quickly on the lips before letting the man go and sort out the food. Gazing at Logan's slight favouritism to his left leg, Patton watched as he walked away, "Are you sure you don't want me to cook? The doctor said you still had to rest,"
"Amare, I've been resting for months, all I've been wanting this whole time is to get up and do things," Logan explained, "But, I will allow you to help me if you're so worried amica mea," He said, rolling his eyes slightly.
Chuckling, Patton went to join him. He knows Logan doesn't like to be fussed over, he just wants his boyfriend to be safe and healthy.
After making the dinner, Patton went to wake up Janus since he was upstairs and Logan woke up Yvette.
When Patton got up the stairs, he heard someones phone buzz a few times before he opened the door.
Janus still looked tired. His phone was almost buzzing itself off of the table and he just sat on the bed with his legs close to his chest with his eyes closed. His arms hugged his legs as he lent againest the wall. Honestly, you wouldn't guess that he's still awake.
The bright sun melted into the room throught the open curtains and the window was open letting the sound of the busy street below into the room. It was no wonder that Janus couldn't sleep with all this noise.
"Janus?" Patton said, creaking the door open more as to let himself into the room. Not budging, Janus only moved slightly when he heard his name. "Janus?" Patton said again to the barely responsive teenager. Walking over to Janus, Patton sat by him at the end of the bed.
"Janus?"
Opening his eyes slightly, Janus looked straight past Patton and just looked at the phone on the desk on the other side of the room. It was still buzzing with life. "Do you want me to cheak who it is?" Patton asked, noticing Janus' eyes look over there.
When his gaze fell, Patton knew that was probably one of the last things Janus wanted to hear at that point. "Dinner is ready," Patton informed the boy as he stood up. Patting Janus' shoulder, Patton went to leave.
"Wait,"
Turning around from the door, Patton gazed back at Janus whom had unfolded. The teen was now just sitting normally as he looked over to his phone for a second before looking back at Patton. "Do you want to talk about it?" Patton questioned, walking back over to where Janus was and sitting back down where he was before.
Nodding slowly Janus went into his little ball again as he hid his face again before shakily pointing towards his phone.
Getting up, Patton grabbed Janus' phone for him before passing it to the boy as he sat down.
As soon as he got his phone, Janus peaked his head over his knees as he swiped through his phone before leaving it on a conversation and then shoving the phone into Patton's hands for him to read the entire conversation.
For confirmation, Patton gazed at Janus for a second before the teen nodded, allowing Patton to read the text messages Janus had allowed him to read.
Scrolling through the messages, Patton noticed they were all from Remus. All of them had one thing in common, they were all full of worry. Some were just messages Remus had sent in the middle of the night. But most were just concerned for Janus.
Then Patton stumbled across a long one. Reading through it, it said: 'I know you probably don't want to talk to me, actually fuck that, I know you don't, you haven't spoken to me in weeks and yesterday you just kind of brushed me off. I understand if you don't want me in your life, but at least tell me something. We're soulmates aren't we, we're in this together for the long run. I've never want you to make you feel that I'm not listening to you, but I can't listen if you don't speak. I just want to help. Just please say something. Anything, just please talk to me, I miss you so much. You mean so much to me. Text me back whenever you feel like it'
Reading through it again, Patton had to make sure he wasn't hallucinating. When Remus and Roman stayed around a while ago, he was never this open, or calm. Honestly, out of everyone there, Remus was the most closed off. This was a side of the teen Patton didn't even know existed.
"What should I do?" Janus mumbled, taking back his phone. That message was the last one in the conversation. It was sent when they were all in the water park so Janus didn't see it immediately.
Bringing Janus closer to him, Patton wrapped Janus up in a comforting hug, "Let me tell you a story from a while ago," Patton began, "Once I did the same thing to Logan. It was as I said before a while back, I'm not proud of it, it was when I was still discovering who I was and my sexuality, even before that I was completely againest people like me,"
Sitting up, Janus asked, "What does this have to do with me and Remus?"
Smiling back at the teen, Patton continued with his story, "But during that time I accidentally hurt Logan in the process. He was used to being alone, he was used to people leaving him. But by some miracle of fate, we bumped into each other again," He told the boy, Patton sighed looking at the ceiling, honestly he wished he could do things differently than he did.
"Don't wait like I did, don't wait for some odd chance you'll talk again," He advised, "Just take a chance, you care about him right?" Patton asked.
"....yes,"
"Well then, he's waiting for you," Patton said, "But first, dinner,"
Rolling his eyes, Janus got up and went into the kitchen. At least he knew what to do now.
