Aleksander wanted to bash someone's head into the wall. Preferably the king's head.

He had gotten word this morning that Amina and himself were due to the Grand Palace along with Zoya, and Ivan.

Once they arrived, the king made small talk with them, focusing a little more on Amina than what would be deemed socially acceptable.

"Amina, dear, I would like to talk to you in my personal chambers," he said, abruptly.

Her eyes immediately flitted to Aleksander, silently begging him to get her out of this situation.

They both knew she was perfectly capable of getting herself out of this situation, but they also knew she would probably say something extremely insulting or rude towards the king.

She knew exactly what the king wanted to do. He had tried to do the same thing with Genya when she was younger but Amina had discreetly stopped him.

"Actually, moi tsar, we must get going. We have some planning to do for the upcoming birthday ball for Prince Vasily."

Amina sighed in relief before the group quickly left.

The first thing they did when they were back at the palace, was going to the meeting room. The prince required a lavish birthday party and expected there to be a show performed by the Grisha.

Amina had innocently suggested that she could make the king pass out as one of the acts which earned a snort from Zoya and a proud smile from her husband.

By the time they finished planning, it was already late at night and the general was half asleep.

"Aleks?"

"Hmm?"

"You're falling asleep on me, darling," Mina noted with a tender laugh, rubbing his back soothingly.

He lifted his head up from her shoulder only to notice that everyone else had already retired to their chambers for the night.

"You seem really tired right now, you should go to bed and I'm sure Genya already put Cassi to bed. You're going to be hard to wake up tomorrow if you don't get enough sleep, love"

He tiredly scowled at her before complaining that she was impossible to wake that one night a few weeks ago.

"It was like trying to raise a corpse." he said.

"Ok. And?"

"You simply said, 'The dead request five more minutes' and then went back to sleep!" he reminded her in frustration.

"Mhm. And?"

Amina was incorrigible.
