Shoto Todoroki wanted many things in life. Growing up under the eye of Endeavor, he never knew of anything but to be successful, to always be the best. Which made him absolutely despise the reality of coming third in the hero rankings.

His quirk was powerful, his father bred him that way. His poor omega mother had no choice but to produce the perfect offspring for his obsessive father. But even then, Shoto came in third. Deku had All Might as his mentor, while Dynamight's fierce skill made both of them shoot forward faster than Shoto expected. It made him want to work harder to surpass them.

He never thought he would by death.

When the news of Dynamight's death reached Todoroki, he was both shocked and surprised. Bakugo Katsuki was just the one person he never suspected to fall in action. Now that he was gone, he was determined to bring the villain responsible to justice.

What he didn't expect was for you to infiltrate his mind once more. He hasn't seen you in years; after you mated with Bakugo his hopes of claiming you were extinguished and he moved on.

Although he never fully moved on. There were other omegas that flaunted his way, but every time he got close to one, images of you wafted in his mind. The other omegas were weak, narrow-minded, and ready to accept the first alpha to come their way. His money was attractive, but he doubted any of them wanted him for just being Shoto.

You, on the other hand, rejected him. His money and power didn't attract you, and you mated with Bakugo because that's who you loved. He could never compete.

However, his worry for you after Bakugo's death was apparent. An omega without her alpha mate was surely going to live a suffering life. When he stood there in your office, more than anything he just wanted to be your friend. To comfort you in any way he could.

But that damn Kirishima was quick to swoop in and snatch you.

Blood bond.

Todoroki scoffs internally, his fist clenching at thinking about it.

Blood bonds weren't something many omega and alpha mates practiced. You could have a mate without a blood bond, but those who did felt more complete when mated and it's said to give you more strength.

Maybe that's why he could never surpass Bakugo.

But as the investigation grew, there was one thing Todoroki knew for sure.

Kirishima was lying.

He didn't know about what yet. The worst-case scenario is that Kirishima was responsible for Dynamight's death, and his claim on you was forced and a selfish bidding. If that was the case, Todoroki would happily be the one to bring Red Riot in.

Although for as long he's known Kirishima, the chivalrous hero, he couldn't imagine him doing such a sinful act.

But people change.

As Shoto walked the streets, patrolling in his hero costume, he somehow managed to find your apartment building. He looked up to gaze at your window, wondering what you were doing right now. Asleep? Wide awake? He longed to be in your presence, to ask you how you were. To ask you if you needed anything.

But the half cold, half hot, quirk user turned away, continuing down the street till he heard a door close. Turning around, he watched as a dark figure leaves your apartment and goes down the stairs. He would assume it was Kirishima, but this stranger didn't look like Kirishima.

Todoroki watched as the dark clothed figure made his way down the street, his face shielded and his stance suspicious.

"Hey, you there!" Todoroki calls, quickly walking over towards the man.
