Chapter 40

Everything hurts. Your body, your head...and even your fucking heart.

When you awoke from your coma, you were greeted by an older kind nurse. She gave you a sweet smile as she replaced an IV bag. "Oh, dear! You're awake!"

You blinked, moving your very stiff body. "What...How long have I been out?"

"Just a day! Our medical staff worked hard on recovering your injuries. You suffered from a concussion and broken femur, but everything healed up nicely."

You nodded, noticing that the TV in the corner was on and playing the news. Your heart skipped a beat when you saw a picture of Dynamight over the screen. So it wasn't a dream, you thought.
"Can you turn that up?" You ask the nurse who nodded and pressed the button on the side of the medical bed.

"In an amazing story of self-preservation and sacrifice, our beloved pro-hero Dynamight that we all thought had died in the attack of Downtown, has miraculously reappeared during the giant monster attack yesterday. Currently, in police custody, Dynamight has refused to answer questions at the moment, but sources say the hero faked his own death, due to the newcomer villain Watanuki Yoshino, forcing him into working for the maniac."

"It was incredible, did you see Dynamight take him out? It's like he appeared out of nowhere!" a bystander covered in dust exclaims.

"Red Riot and Shoto were amazing!" Another one cheers.

You reached up and switched the TV off, not wanting to hear anymore.

This whole time, Katsuki was alive. Kirishima knew this and didn't tell you. How could you be so stupid!? You looked up at the nurse, "Can you get me some water, please?" You ask her politely.

She nods her head and turns to walk out of the room. Once she left, you crumbled into a pit of tears, feeling hurt, betrayed, overwhelmed, and...relief?

A knock on the door made you quickly pull yourself together, using the blanket that was over you to wipe your tears. As the door opens, you're stunned to see Todoroki dressed in casual attire. He gives you a warm smile as he walks over to you.

"I'm so glad you are awake," He says softly, taking a seat in the chair next to your bed.

"Where is he?" You immediately ask and the smile on the hero's face falters.
"He's here. He has been released from all charges. He passed all the lie detectors as well as having proof of the abuse he endured," He explains and you flinched at his words.

"And...Red Riot?" You ask curiously, looking out the window.

"Also released but is going to be held on suspension for withholding information. Dynamight will be taking over the agency once more," He informs you.

You nodded, looking back over to him.

Todoroki remained quiet, gazing at you. There was so much he wanted to say but didn't think it was what you wanted. Instead, he decided the best thing you needed was your alpha, as much as it pained him to believe.

"He's here if you wish to see him," Todoroki offers and you bite the inside of your cheek.

"Yea," you finally say after thinking for a moment.

Todoroki nods before standing and leaving the room. It was too quiet now, and the ringing in your ear made your head cringe in agony.

You laid back on your bed, thinking of what you wanted to say to him. So much was going on in your brain that it physically hurt to concentrate on one.
