His Best Kept Secret
Chapter 37

Todoroki sat at his desk, a splitting headache rolling in his head. He gazed down at the pictures of Bakugo standing in front of that other man, wondering how the hell the number two hero turned into a villain.

His phone remained unlocked on the desk, the text he sent to you still opened. He didn't want to tell you this way, he wanted to ease you into the situation. But if what this person said was true, this 'grand finale' was going to happen.

Bakugo was dangerous, the pain in his side was evidence of that. If they could have you come in to help them, maybe Bakugo would surrender peacefully. It was obvious the alpha still had feelings for you if he got upset over his partner speaking with you. Todoroki didn't know how true that was if he left you to be used by Kirishima. Speaking of the hardhead...He decided to keep the news of Dynamight's betrayal a secret till you got here. The last thing he wanted was for Kirishima to know their plan had fallen through.

It was simple really. Bakugo was working with this villain to create monsters to boost his hero ratings. But when it got too complicated, he formed a plan with Kirishima to pass you off so he could be free to do what he pleased. Kirishima would have been the obvious choice, being as loyal as a dog to Bakugo. Now Red Riot had his own agency, the omega, while Bakugo had the freedom to do what he wanted.

Todoroki shook his head, disgusted at such a demanding and selfish plan. It made sense as to why Kirishima wasn't pressed on pursuing the monster cases. Or how he knew what the other villain looked like without Todoroki telling him.

It all made sense, and Todoroki was determined to show the truth to you and finally bring the rightful justice to these two supposed heroes.

Part of him felt his heart break. His classmates from U.A...they had been through a lot together. How did they end up here?

Twenty minutes passed when Todoroki's alpha ears picked up on the heavy footsteps coming to his door. He looked up just in time to see his door being thrown open, revealing your tearful and angry face.

"What the hell is this?!" You shout, stomping your way to him. "Is this some sick joke!?"

Todoroki expected this; he just revealed to you that your mate you had been mourning for months was in fact not dead.

"I'm sorry Y/N, I know how difficult this must be--"

"What even is this!?" You throw your phone down.

Todoroki put his hands up to try and calm you down. "Please listen to me, I have no intentions to lie to you. In fact, I've been the only one who has been truthful to you. Kirishima lied about Bakugo's death. Bakugo is alive, and he's working with the Villain behind the monster attacks."

You couldn't believe your ears. You shook your head in denial. "No...No! I held his dead body in my arms! There was no heartbeat...Kirishima...he would never lie to me about this!"

You couldn't believe it. You wouldn't believe it!

"Y/N...I saw him with my own eyes. I have more than one picture," he motions to the scattered photos on his desk. Your eyes landed on one and you reached forward to pick it up. He was there, looking like the last day you saw him. His hair was shorter...he looked like Katsuki, but didn't at the same time.

"This must be a trick..Toga--"

"Has been dead for eight years," Todoroki reminded, his eyes softening as he gazed at you. "I am so sorry."

You gripped your head in your hands. "This doesn't make sense. Why would he do this? Why would he leave me?" You collapsed onto the chair that was placed in front of the desk, feeling like if you didn't sit down you would have surely doubled over in pure agony.
