"Persphyni." I spun, the soft voice echoing around me as I stood in the grove.

I stayed quiet as I listened to the quiet, hoping to hear the voice reach out again.

"Persphyni." The same voice whispered. It sounded older, mature. Loving— almost.

"Yes?" My voice was uncertain as I looked around trying to follow the voice. Silence once again following.

"They need you dear." I stopped spinning once I saw the figure. My knees threatening to collapse as the breath I had just took escaped my lungs.

"Who?" I was speechless as I barely choked out the word. The woman gave me a soft smile, her arms crossing over her chest as she put her weight on a tree. A pose I have done many times.

"My name is Kore Adalei-Kane, but you already knew that." I did, but I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

"Mom?" Her smile widened, her green eyes crinkling slightly as her soft red hair blew gently in a phantom breeze.

"Hello, Sweetheart." I could see how my father knew I was his daughter without the DNA test, between my mother's hair and eyes it was no doubt I had been related to her.

I felt my eyes watering as I forced them closed. This wasn't real. I've never heard her real voice, never seen her real smile. Her image was the only accurate thing, the Ark clothes and the small gun strapped to her leg could only have been a memory from my father.

But everything else— everything else was me. My imagination fucking with my head.

"You're not real." My voice was a whisper as I brought my hand up and covered my mouth, my pointer and thumb securing my eyelids closed as I tried to pull back in the tears.

"No," my hand fell from my face as I looked up and saw her suddenly much closer, "but one day, I will be." Her hand came up and gently touched my chest. "And in here, I am always with you. If you want me to be." I felt the pressure appear and then disappear as I leaned in to her hand.

My body beginning to accelerate forward as the image of my mother vanished. My imagination too tired to keep her as I fell down. My body spiraling forward as no sound left my lips. The only thing coming from me was a set of tears as I finally understood how much I had truly missed and would never have.

The touch of a mother's love.

My world went dark as I kept falling. My heart rate increasing as I moved my eyes around trying to see in front of me. Trying to see anything. My eyes fuzzy as I blinked away my left over tears.

Before I could calm myself, I fell onto a light grey concrete floor. My body aching as I laid down, barely able to flip my body over and onto my back as I stared at the ceiling. The bright lights blinding as I lifted a heavy hand.

"You gave us quite a scare Callie." I furrowed my eyebrows as I glanced up and saw three people whom I've never met before in my life. A fourth one who I was only recently acquainted with.

"You." I growled pointing at Alie. My body aching as I sat up.

"Whoa. Easy, Callie." The older woman who I didn't know placed her hands on my shoulders to steady me.

"It's okay. Let me try." I glared as Alie got onto her knees and began to speak. "It's me, Becca. You were running and hit your head. Can you remember anything?" My eyes widened as I stared at Alie's creator. And the creator of Nightblood.

I shifted my eyes around me as I took in my surroundings. My eyes taking in everything as I realized this was one of the memories accidentally transferred over to me from Alie. It had to be from the Flame.
