"No. No. No!" I slammed my fist into the metal hatch again and again. Blood broke the skin as anger surfaced within me.
"Persphyni. Persphyni! Please. Please, stop." I looked up at my father as he grabbed my hands, a bandage in his own as he began to wrap my bloody knuckles. I didn't bother asking where he had pulled it from as I tried to calm myself down. The rage spilling up as emotions overcame me.
"I'm going to kill them. They didn't wait. They lied, they cheated, they stole!" I growled the last part glaring at the hatch as if they could hear me. I felt my chest clench as I thought about who was down below. My breathing strained as I fought to find my levelheaded brain.
"It's going to be okay." I shook my head at his soft words.
"No. No, it's not. Because above it all, they didn't believe in me. They didn't think I could make Octavia win." I clenched my jaw to hold back this strange emotion in my chest. "Guess what! I won you assholes!" My fists clenched as my father finished wrapping them and just stared at me. My eyes became watery as I fought the pain in my chest and legs. The ache that covered my body and in circled my heart became unbearable.
"Persphyni. You yelling through metal isn't going to do anything." I sighed and nodded.
"Worth a shot, right?" I scoffed as I set back on my legs. My hands resting on my knees as I ignored the painful stretch of my blistery skin.
"I can't believe them." I whispered. "And it was probably Jaha's idea and Clarke probably went along with it. Bellamy had too much faith in his sister and I." I tried to understand what the hell had happened. Distracting my mind from the physical and emotional pain I was feeling. A sudden light came on in my head.
"Oh my goodness, he was kidnapped! Bellamy was kidnapped by Arkadians. They came for Octavia but the scouts scared them off." I vaguely remember two cloaked figures lurking but just waved them off as cheating clans.
"Dad, if we don't get that open, you aren't going to be safe." I looked him in the eye as I felt sorrow course through my body.
"We'll get it open." He assured as he moved closer to grab ahold of my clenched fists. "As long as I'm here with you, that's all that matters at the moment. I don't want to regret not spending more time with you. Not more than I already do." He pulled me in for another hug as I grabbed ahold of him.
"I thought I wasn't going to get to say goodbye." He whispered in my ear and I felt my breath catch as I experienced first hand the sound of a parent breaking because of my actions.
"It'll never be goodbye. Just goodnight." I whispered back as I squeezed. "Goodbye is forever. But I know we'll see each other again even if we get separated." We pulled apart and I could see the unshed tears in his eyes as he gave me a smile.
"You know, I think you're a little too philosophical." I laughed as he chuckled softly.
"I don't even know what or who to blame. Maybe an author." We laughed again though footsteps quickly brought us back to reality.
"It's locked." I called out as the footsteps descended, already knowing who was coming down.
"Keep everyone out." Gaia's voice was loud as she ordered men to go back up to the entrance.
"Are they all dead?"
I stood slowly as I made eye contact with each of the females in front of me. Their eyes on the knocked out warriors on the ground.
"No. They used gas like the Mountain Men." I informed as Octavia reached down to grab a canister.
"Skaikru have betrayed us all." I looked Indra in the eye as she gave me a harsh glare.
"It's not over yet." I growled out as I grabbed my father's walkie from his discarded pack.
"This is Persphyni Atlys Kane. Can anyone hear me? If you can hear me, respond. Over." Silence. My dad gave an encouraging nod for me to try again as Octavia came closer.
"Can anyone hear me? If you can hear me, respond. If you can hear me and choose not to respond, I will detonate the hatch, I'd like to keep the bunker in good shape though. Over." I shrugged at Octavia as I finished handing the walkie over to her and stepping back.
"It was worth a shot." I defended. She rolled her eyes at me but stepped up and began to talk.
"This is Octavia. Can anyone hear me? Over." I leaned against the wall as Octavia sat down by the hatch and continued to call for a response over the radio.
"This is Octavia. Can anyone hear me, damn it?" I clenched my jaw as she got angry, ready to take the walkie back so she could cool down. But I barely made it a step when our questions were finally answered.
"O, it's me. You okay?" Octavia and I looked at each other and relief filled the room as his voice came through the walkie.
"I'm alive. We won." She informed as we walked towards each other.
"What do you mean we?" I grabbed the walkie and brought it to my lips to answer his question.
"Hey, Blake. Guess who chose not to die yet." I heard a laugh of relief come over the walkie before I continued. "Can Jaha and Clarke hear me?"
"Yes."
"Good. You're going to want to pull the speaker from your ear." I informed as I took a deep breath in.
"What the hell did you do! You both knew I was going to make Octavia win! Clarke, seriously? I thought after I've saved your ass so many times you'd have more faith in me. I guess Lexa never told you that I won the title of Champion from her. Why didn't you believe in me?" I took another breath to calm my racing heart as I yelled over the walkie. Shock written on everyone's face as I unhinged.
"And you, Jaha. Once I get my hands on you, you're going to wish you had waited one more damn hour before sending us down to earth so you could have floated me." My words were nearly growls as I stared at the wall ahead of me.
"Persphyni. It wasn't his idea." I nearly dropped the walkie as Bellamy interrupted me.
"Then whose was it?" I was almost afraid to ask, but I already knew.
"Look that isn't important, but I'll try my best to fix it." I rubbed my temples as I sighed knowing exactly whose idea this was.
"Listen, I'll deal with that later. When Octavia and I won, we decided to share the bunker with everyone. Just like Clarke wanted, right?" I handed the walkie to Octavia to explain the situation as I felt my anger bubbling.
"Kane is out there buying us time by helping them select their people. And Gaia somehow convinced the scouts to lock down the temple. But if anyone finds out that Skaikru stole the bunker, we're all dead."
"Copy that. I'm on my way." Octavia and I sighed as she came over and put a hand on my shoulder.
"He's going to get it done." I smiled and placed my hand over hers and giving it a small squeeze.
"I know."
"O, I'm gonna need some time." I grabbed the walkie quickly as my hopeful mood dampened.
"We'll give you all we can. Please be careful. Clarke, Lexa would be ashamed of you." I finished my sentence as the sound of a walkie disconnecting filtered in from the other side.
I threw the walkie on the ground and took a step forwards towards the back wall.
We were on the wrong side of salvation. Leaving us with having one thing. Hope.
