Q: Are clothes a matter of pure aesthetic taste, or does it make sense for clothes to become a subject of discussion in ethics? Why? how about other forms of adornment, such as tattoos and piercings?

A: The question goes back to why are we wearing clothes? For what reason did the humans invented it? It's because, it is needed. The ancient people- our ancestors need something to cover up their bodies, to protect it against the intense weathers, wild animals, and the nature in general. We all need to wear clothes.

Even the animals have their fur, skin, and scales that they use to survive and cope up in their environment. Even the trees have barks. As for the humans, clothes are needed but the preferences on different types of clothing differs from our taste. It's because humans are born with the Aesthetic need too. As a newborn baby, we tend to stare intently more on attractive people. That's how we are as humans.

Humans have the ability to rationalize and feel, thus, it is our nature to express ourselves and that is through art which is manifested whenever we appreciate the beauty and contrast it to the ugly and disorderly. If a person would like to pierce his body, or put a drawing on it, it is his/her way of expressing him/herself.

Ethics is about the right and wrong. But how about the right and wrong? How sure are we that the right and wrong that was established by the society is correct? Ethics is vague. And judging a person's character based solely on how he/she dresses, well yeah, sure, it reflects his/her personality, but not that person as a whole. This is misleading. The basic wrong is this: trampling on others other than the reason for survival. With that, a judging person is worse than an animal.
