Q: Is looking after the benefit of your own family over all other considerations is another form of egoism? Discuss.

A: In my opinion, either seeking to benefit one 's family is a form of egoism self-interest it depends on why I seek to benefit in my family. If I consider benefitting my family, a route to benefit myself, then, of course, it is a form of egoism. On the other hand, if a person who considers family interests a moral obligation even when it does not serve her self-interest, then, it is not a form of egoism.

We all have our egos to protect. We all have to take care of ourselves and our own family. Because if not, who else will? Even the closest friends and relatives would not even do that. They will seek to prioritize their own family before the others. Because we all have our inner egoists deep inside.

But the inner egoists in us is also necessary for us to survive. This world, an everyone living here will not exist if not for it. If they only care about the others, and not take care of their own welfare, then everyone is suicidal. Everyone will just die and exhaust for the other.

Yet, even so, the inner egoist shall not be fed with so much pride. Or else, we will become a true egoist who does not care at all. Who becomes a narcissist and fail to set a standard and ruins the quality of life and in this planet we live in. An ethical egoist would look at it differently from both males and females. Therefore, an egoist's moral commitment is to oneself, and her long-term needs.
