That day, in the coffee shop, I told Noah and Alex a lot. I told them about my attraction to Ivy, how good she was. I even mentioned some of our time together. But not the first time at the stream. That memory was special and close. It was ours, mine and hers to share, but be judged or commented on by anyone else. It was as if that memory held a meaning more than I could understand.
About half way through my coffee, I felt my phone buzz. I glanced at the time and knew both of my parents were probably home so I assumed it was one of them. As I glanced at my phone, I noticed it was Ivy.
"It's Ivy" I said "she wants to know if I can hang out"
Alex opened her mouth to say something, but before she did I continued
"Do you want to meet her?" I asked my gaze flicking between Noah and Alex
Noah instantly began nodding and although Alex seemed more unsure, I saw her nod and so I texted her to meet us where we were
"Is there anything we need to know?" Noah said carefully
"What do you mean?"
"Like" a small pause "is there anything we shouldn't bring up?"
"Doesn't seem to be" I replied and brought my coffee back to my mouth.
It was about 10 minutes later when Ivy walked through the door. As always her hair was messy and still falling in exactly the right place. She looked exactly how I left her that morning and somehow that made me smile. I must have been starting because a stifled chuckle made me jump out of my trance and look down. A pink shade crept onto my face, increasing my embarrassment and disabling me from talking
"Hey" Ivy's voice. Crap.
I looked up and met her eyes. Calm, rational, unfazed.
"Hi" I greeted.
From my spot I turned to I was no longer facing the window, and I was now addressing the three people surrounding me. Ivy was sitting down on the seat next me, Noah and Alex placing their empty coffee cups down on the table. I glanced at the time: 2 o'clock. Before I could say anything the women came round again. She smiled round at all of, forcing me to give her a small one back
"More coffee?" She asked me
I must have looked like I needed it
"Please" I said
"I'll put an expresso in it for you love" she said "what about you guys "same again?"
Noah and Alex nodded their heads in agreement, their eyes subtly looking at Ivy - well I say subtly...
"What about you?" The lady asked turning to the girl who was now sat closer to me.
"Could I have a decafe latte" Ivy asked
"Okay then I'll be back in bit" and with that the lady was walking away
My eyes flicked between the three of them for a second. What should I say? What should I do? Thankfully, Noah was always adequately equipped or social situations
"Decafe?" He asked
"Trust me one bit of caffeine is enough for me in the morning" Ivy laughed back
"Meanwhile you have miss caffeine addict sat next to you" Noah added
Oh how grateful I was that he said that.
Ivy turned at looked at me, from my cross legged position I glanced back, not in the eyes though
"Oh really?" She asked a tone of amusement in her voice.
