Life is a series of unexpected incidents, some predictable and some not. No matter any assurance, we do not know for a fact what will happen. That's the thing about life, the only think you can ever control is yourself and even that is impossible at times.

Some of these moments, these events have a way if connecting from one to another. A sort of domino effect. To miss out one would mean the whole thing would not topple it would be missing a peace. But if one after another fall there is no stopping it till the end.

Alex and I sat in the cafe with Ellie; us both with mugs of hot chocolate while we shared a brownie. Ellie sat next me, stirring a cup of tea as she picked apart a muffin.

"Do you guys not get on?" I asked

"We don't know each other"

"What?" Alex's confusion was clear in her tone "sorry, I just mean that you guys live in the same town and are the same age. I'd just assume you guys are close"

Ellie shook her head "I lived with my mum, he had my dad. This is my step mums cafe I've only been here since October time"

"That's a lot to deal with"

"No. It was a lot when I realised my dad was cheating on my mum while she was pregnant with me. This is just complicated"

"Sounds it" Alex muttered

"But anyway, tell me about you guys. Brooke how's living at Ivy's going?"

"Oh" I glanced at Alex, a cold stare waiting for me "I'm back home again"

"Oh"

Ellie and Alex probably shared the same opinion on the fact. Alex made no effort to hide the fact that she disliked I went home, instead holding onto the belief that it would be better for me to live between her and Ivy. Except, that wasn't practical and wasn't the reality I wanted to live in. The caution I had to Nero with my parents was worth it, just to see Ella, Seb and Jack. Unlike Alex, Ellie would probably not be so forward with this opinion, much like Ivy she would play neutral as far as she could get away with unless it got too serious not to.

"Well how's that" Ellie continued.

"It's alright. Not perfect but I like being home"

Ellie nudged me, a smile on her face "And how is Ivy?"

"Yeah I haven't actually had any Ivy gossip today" Alex smiled

I stabbed my fork into the brownie and took a large mouthful.

Alex kicked my ankle "Are you seriously not going to spill to us"

"What do you wanna know"

"What you guys get up to" Ellie answered.

I sighed and pushed myself into the corner, "I dunno. She came to mine the other morning after you told her my lessons were cancelled"

Alex started to cough.

"And" Ellie coaxed

"It was very um" I made eye contact with Alex "intimate"

She continued to cough, shock clearly overruling all of her other emotions. After a couple of breaths she stopped, small bouts of laughter all that was left of her coughing fit.

"I don't know why I'm so surprised I thought you'd had sex in year 9"

I sighed "what about you and Noah"

"Oh who's Noah" Ellie asked, her eyes darting from either one of us.

"Her boyfriend" I replied

"Me and Noah are good"
