"Tell me what happened" Alex begged as she drove away from my house
How could I? How could I tell her what my mum had just said - what she'd just done? My phone buzzed. I was done. There was so much. So much.
I'd left so quickly, didn't say goodbye to Ella. I had barely said two words to seb that day. And the way I ran round trying to shove things in my bag.
Blurred vision ruined my sight again, then came the sensation of warm water running down my face.
"I think I left my pyjamas" was all I could think of to say.
I heard Alex speak in the background, something about giving me some and something else about dinner. All I could think of was right: the opposite of left, correctness, putting something on paper. Right.
She had said right. I revealed myself to her and she said 'Right'. Then blamed my gayness on my girlfriend before asking me to leave her house.
Did this mean I was homeless? 17 and homeless. I felt my pulse racing and suddenly the car was just way too small. Breathe. Breathe.
"Breathe" Alex's voice broke through
I gulped in the air coming through the window. The cold worked through me, giving me a small taste of reality.
As Alex parked the car I was able to function once again. We didn't get out straight away, instead we sat in silence, so much not to say. So I flicked the mirror down and glanced at the damage on my face. Mascara ran down my cheeks, a flushed look consumed all my skin and my eyes. My eyes were filled with green misery. I used my hands to rub the mascara marks from my face; it did very little but it meant I tried.
Alex stayed silent next to me. I'm not sure she knew what to say. How would you know what to say.
"You ready?" She asked gently.
I didn't trust my voice so just nodded at her question.
Her house was empty, thankfully, so walking up to her room was no bother. Alex held my school bag while the one with my things remained in my hands. My phone buzzed as I walked up her stairs and followed Alex to her room.
"I texted my mum" Alex explained "and you can stay here as long as you want"
"Thank you" I whispered my voice horse from crying.
"I'm gonna go call her and ask for some pizza for dinner"
I nodded at her excuse to go call Noah and found myself wandering around her room. Just as we had this room had evolved. When me and Alex had first become friends it was pink, for a few years it was blue but not it was a classy grey and white. It was a huge room, a small love seat was in the corner, Alex's king size bed in the centre against the black wall. Her wardrobe was twice the size of mine and the tv in her room seemed luxurious. The room was bigger than Ivy's but then again ivy had her own living space. It felt homely, the scent of lavender came from her pillow mist that was applied without fair every night.
Sinking down in the love seat, I took the familiar feeling as a comfort. I curled up into it, making myself as small at possible.
"My mums probably going to be home a little late" Alex announced as she walked into the room.
A gave her small smile, a gesture if nothing else
"You wanna watch some tv?"
"Okay" I agreed.
Alex grabbed her remote off of her tv stand then headed over towards me.
"Sit up" I did as I was told. Alex slid behind me and wrapped her hands around me. From my back pocket my phone buzzed once again.
