"I swear to god if you move me one more time I'm going to actually get mad at you" Ivy threatened as I slid in bed once again.
"Sorry" I groaned.
All night I'd been restless,I'd gone to the bathroom a couple of times and even just sat by the floor next to the window. I looked at the clock hung on the wall 5:30, if I was lucky id had 3 hours of sleep. Squeezing my eyes shut, I kept still at the edge of the bed. Ivy had been so good to me, let me stay with her and not complained once but I was repaying her with a sleepless night while being a general inconvenience.
"Brooke"
"Mmm"
"I'm not being serious"
"I know, get some sleep"
I lay in silence, hoping she'd nod off and I would slip out from the covers and go on a run... or something. Simulation or lack of, I'm not sure was the problem was but nothing meant that I could sleep.
"Come here"
As I rolled over, I saw ivy slightly sat up, her morning hair in her eyes but I could make out the caramel glow even in the dimmed light.
"Please"
I caved at that and gratefully moved into my girlfriends arms. Second nature guided my head on her chest and allowed her arms around me. I still got a rush of warmth as her lips pressed against my forehead just to let me know she did want me there.
"Talk to me" she requested as her hand moved through my hair
"About what?"
"Anything"
"Okay" my eyes darted around the room, eventually lying on the stack of papers on Ivy's chest of draws "my class got cancelled"
"Which lesson?"
"Lit"
"No Handmaids Tale today then"
"Nope"
"Small luxuries"
A moments pause.
"Ivy"
"Yeah?"
"I think I'm gonna go spend the night at Alex's tonight"
Her hand stilled in my hair for just a second too long.
"Any reason?" Ivy asked as she exhaled
"Not really I just feel like I need to"
"Fair enough"
A dead end conversation, I was sure ivy was just exhausted but I couldn't help but feel the urge to ask if I'd done something wrong. In a sense of that, I wrapped my arm around her, the closeness a feeling I always wanted.
"Has Alex got afternoon lessons?"
"Nope she comes home at 12"
"I'll take you when I'm going to school"
"Thank you"
"Of course"
Drowsiness began to deep into my words, blinking to stay awake only worked so much. Warmth from ivy, combined with uninteresting conversation placed me in the perfect position for my eyes to droop.
When I woke up again, Ivy was awake, my body was angled into her, my arm tightly wound around her. Attachment, attached - was it an issue? Was I too attached?
"Morning"
"Morning" I mumbled back
We laid in bed a while longer, my grogginess easing off the more time I spent awake. Ivy's phone was in front of me, the blaring screen full of a jumble of colours.
