The decision wasn't made instantly, i didn't tell my mum when I was coming back, but I was and she knew that much - it was no longer an if I was coming back. She stayed a bit longer, had a cup of tea but left within an hour. Leaving Ivy, Jane and me sat quietly at the empty table. She left the book behind though, in her absence a book.
Jane never asked me my opinion, or what I wanted to do. She just sort of sat there, looking at me with the same look of concern in her eyes as her daughter. Her kindness extended to reaching out and wrapping her hand tightly around my own, no words but enough support to fill the entire room.
Ivy, on the other hand, stayed still and silent. She let go of my hand under the table and began to run hers through her hair. When we excused ourselves, or I excused us, she continued to say nothing.
That was until we got into her annex. Instinctively I walked over to the familiar open plan kitchen and flicked the kettle on. I made a point of busying myself, reaching up to grab coffee from one Ivy's many cupboards.
"So" I heard from behind me "when are you going back?"

Ivy wrapped her hand around my wrist and gently tugged. I rolled my eyes at the gesture and turned her and willing walked right into her opens arms. The kitchen was flooded with light, afternoon sun filled the open room so that I could see small light fragments in Ivy's doe eyes.
"I'm not sure I could get any closer to you if I tried" I laughed into her chest
"That's a lie" she smirked "there's two whole layers of clothes between us"
I felt heat spiral up my neck and reach my face at her comment, the very thought caused me to feel electrifyingly warm.
"Ivy" I gasped as her hand begins to move up my hip.
"Tell me no Brooke"
We were close, too close and still not enough. I shook my head.
"Yes"
And her hand slipped underneath the hoodie that I was wearing. Warm hands met my own cold skin and I was hooked once again. I pressed my lips to Ivy's neck, kissing her slowly.
"I swear to God if you leave a mark"
I laughed at my girlfriends threat and pulled away so I could look up at her face. Ivy had this entirely frustrating habit of always looking attractive, no matter the angle or time of day there was an essence of perfection embroidered within her. She raised her eyebrow up at me, a cocky smirk that I'd grown to appreciate tugged at her lips.
Then I realised why.
I was up in her arms my legs wrapped round her waist. Looking down instead of up, I could see the speckles of light honey colour in her large eyes even more clearly. She placed me me on the island so she could stand between my legs.
"You're stunning you know that" she mumbled
"I guess now yeah"
Ivy reached her hand up, so that it gently brushed my face. Then we were kissing, her lips connected to mine in a dazzling sensation.
As the moment stretched into minutes and I was lost. Until, inevitably I woke up from the wonderful dream that was reality and pushed Ivy gently so she'd stop.
I shook my head at her, "you're a distraction"
"But a good one"
"Agreed" I said as I slid off the counter.
I headed for the bedroom, where the small collection of my things sat on the bed waiting to be put back into my bag. The decision had been made the day before and it was time to go back which meant retracting me from Ivy's space.
