Christmas was a wonderful time, one filled with joy and spirit. You usually hated the traditions done due to the amount of fake happiness people showed, however you allowed yourself to enjoy yourself for Eri's sake.
Truth be told, it wasn't only because of her. There was an impending doom on the country, that much was evident. If you were going to die, you decided you could at least die somewhat happy.
You were all off on holiday this week due to Christmas and new year's, the last school event being today's interview. As such, everyone was running around in ugly Christmas sweaters, handing each other presents as they sipped hot chocolate.
Most made small talk with each other, catching up after a long lasting string of chaos. While it was true that U.A had now become a boarding school, it didn't mean that 1-A students had the time to talk to each other. With the workload and chaos you went through every other week, it was a surprise no one had passed out due to stress.
You sat outside, on the roof, not having the energy to speak to those downstairs.
The music was booming, loud enough for you to hear it all the way at the top as you sat there with your hot chocolate, knees pulled to your chest to keep warm.
Kaminari had given you a sweater, much to your surprise, one that you were wearing now. The two of you had kept the tradition since you'd become friends, with him giving you sweaters with snow on them and you giving him one of those stupid light up sweaters that he could fuck around with.
But after weeks of silence from both ends, it was a pleasant surprise to see a sweater lying on your bed with a note when you walked into your dorm.
You pulled the note out of your pocket, finally gaining the courage to read it.
'Sorry, once again. I talked to Hatsume and she was even more disappointed than you were, terrified that I'd ignored you for that long. I guess that kinda made me realise what a shitty person I was. Have a merry Christmas Y/N, hope you continue to make Hatsume happy - Denks <3'
He'd apologised countless times, proven to you he still thought of you as his best friend, yet every time he brought the incident up it made you want to throw up.
You didn't mean for it to happen, but it did. And it made you feel worse than ever for multiple weeks on end.
Except this time, you were finally at peace with it.
Kaminari had acknowledged both of your mistakes and apologised again, as well as adding his own reflections and comments. It made you happy to think he went out of his way to get a friend back.
"Beautiful night, isn't it?" A familiar voice asked you, walking from behind.
You turned around to see Mei, holding her own cup of chocolate as well as a present.
"Yeah, it is," you whispered, smiling at her as you made room for her to sit.
The bubblegum pink haired girl took a seat next to you, legs hanging over the edge of the roof whilst yours remained tucked in.
"I missed you," she mumbled, pulling you into a soft kiss.
Her lips tasted of dark chocolate, unlike the usual caffeinated flavour they had. It only made them even more intoxicating as you pulled yourself in, leaning into her as you set your mug of hot chocolate down behind you.
"Same here," you breathed out, pulling away after what seemed like to little time.
The short kiss had given you more temporary warmth than the cocoa or the sweaters had, leaving you craving for more.
