"Sorry young man, she's dead," the doctor told him once more.
The blonde just couldn't believe the fact that the girl he'd loved since middle school was officially dead. This time, there was no hope.
And worst of all? He'd caused it.
"Y/N," he hiccupped, tears streaking his cheeks.
He held the girl's ring in his hand, her girlfriend having discarded it as soon as she went inside with the girl's adoptive sister.
'Denks,' a voice played at his ears, cheerful and happy. 'I love you too. Just not the same way you love me.'
That was all it took for the boy to breakdown once more, crying through his pain as he remembered the last smile the girl had given him.
Her smiles had always been contagious ones, as they were so free and lighthearted they screamed euphoria.
This one was no different, the girl finally being free from all her inner turmoil.
Except this time, it wasn't the devil that ran free.
