— Part 3: Begin! —
That day was the last that you'd gotten to relax and let loose.
Bakugo quickly found out, subtly supporting you from the background.
You had multiple talks with Endeavour, Hawks and Tsukauchi, most alone to conceal your traces.
However, they all agreed on one thing.
'Listen cloudy, I'm technically a traitor right now,' Hawks stated. 'I've got inside information, so when I say you should be our strategist and general, I mean it.'
'Hawks is an idiot, but he's right,' Endeavour sighed, agreeing with the manchild.
'We're the only ones that know and you're our best shot,' Tsukauchi told you. 'These two have no concept of strategy.'
So you stood on top of the mountain in Kyoto prefecture, regaining a feel for your surroundings before the scheduled invasion.
'They've got different regiments with great lieutenants leading them, so don't fuck it up General,' Hawks reminded you.
The peaceful stroll around Kyoto quickly turned into a much darker one as you realised that this same field, one with flowers and trees everywhere the eye could reach, would be strewn with bodies and trenches.
You sighed, noting a few points down.
You had little information on the Paranormal Liberation Front.
The Black regiment was the brain of the movement. They had most of the strategy and provided backup to the others. This regiment was led by Twice and would be protected so the one the League relied on wouldn't fail them.
Next were the raiders, they were the Violet regiment, led by Dabi and Geten. They had information on everyone and used it as an opportunity to strike down cities. To evade them, Hawks had given you windows in which you could walk free, strategising.
The third regiment was Carmine, led by Toga and Skeptic, with Slidin' Go as an advisor.
As for the last regiment, it was led by Mr. Compress and Spinner, neither of which had been present at the siege on Deika City. They were the support regiment and your biggest priority, the regiment that should be eliminated first to limit contact to others.
You sighed, exhaustion kicking in as you sat down on the empty field.
The field that would be filled with people, both heroes and villains, all fighting for their beliefs.
"How many of us will die?" You asked, admiring the view.
You could see into the city and far off to where a mansion stood.
Everyone you loved was going to throw their life in for the so called greater good, in the hopes that at the very least their family could have a better life.
'You shouldn't be leading this war, you're a child,' Bakugo told you one morning, holding the book in his hand.
He was fast to figure it out, both your code and the one Hawks had written.
'Katsuki I'm doing it,' you declared, standing up. 'I don't have a family, but I will make one. I want them to be safe, I want you all to be safe. And if leading the war is the best way to do it, then I'm all in.'
You hoped your family would be Mei, but you'd both have to survive for that. She was a genius, she'd figure out a way.
As for you?
'We need to make the first move, no matter how weak we are,' you decoded, listening to the message Hawks had sent in Morse code. 'You might end up dying.'
Your fate was uncertain. It was never sealed to begin with, but the light was only being shed on it now.
'We could die!' Bakugo yelled, trying to talk you out of it.
'If I die, will you finally let me go?' You asked, only for the boy to break down into your arms.
'Please Y/N,' he begged, a tear falling onto your necklace. 'Survive.'
You ruffled his hair, wiping the tears off his face and off your necklace. Bakugo's eyes fell on it, where the shadow cast by your fingers now changed the meaning of the inscription.
Your death had been sealed by the commission.
"I just want a happy ending," you whispered, playing with the grass. "They're just kids, we didn't ask to fight a war."
'The chance that you die is always hung above your head and I worry!' Mei exclaimed. 'We both do.'
"Kaminari if you die I'm killing you myself," you groaned, lying onto the grass.
The lives of millions of citizens and thousands of heroes had been placed onto the shoulders of an inexperienced hero.
You barely did field duty as a hero, you had little to no experience. However, you were on par with the top strategists of the country, so you were promoted to general.
On the bright side, you knew that their plan was to attack the major cities, where camps had been set up to speed up evacuation. Refugee camps had been set up in smaller towns and areas, where the targeting would be minimised.
The counter plan the heroes had formed so far was to recruit all hero course students to Endeavour's agency for the next work study.
That way, they all received the same commands.
Tokyo had been your home since you were a child, your friends lived there, your birth family died there.
However, the Musutafu prefecture couldn't protect you forever.
'There'll be a day where you die on duty, or die a veteran,' Hawks sighed, sitting on the roof next to you.
The two of you had just finished another meeting, hunger and exhaustion kicking in.
'I hope I live long enough to see you make your mark,' he finished.
'Yeah, same here,' you chuckled. 'Don't die a martyr yet.'
He smiled at you, glad your grudge against him had decreased.
You would sacrifice yourself for your friends if it meant they wouldn't die. You were prepared to die a martyr, stop your progress in heroics, if the country could progress.
But that would ruin any chance of fulfilling the dreams you had.
'Thank you, Cloud Nine,' Tsukauchi smiled, shaking your hand. 'Keep your loved ones safe.'
This was...
'I will, Tsukauchi-San, you do the same,' you grinned, reciprocating the gesture.
The Paranormal Liberation War!
We've made it! The heroes are marching up soon and then we'll have ✨trauma✨
