You'd lost your battle.
Eraserhead was fighting to avenge your brother, along with multiple heroes. They were the frontline warriors that you'd put all your trust in.
They were the frontline warriors that put all their trust in you.
You wouldn't give up.
Lifting your staff once more, you blocked the strike the girl had aimed for you and sent a kick to her gut, putting distance between the two of you.
"Listen I'm sorry he died, it wasn't in my intention," you argued, trying to knock some sense into Toga. "But I'm not the one who issued the command, I'm with you on this!"
She looked up at you innocently, though grit her teeth instantly and slashed at you.
"Liar!" She yelled. "You heroes want us to believe you're good, that you're perfect! Well you're not, you're fakes!"
"Toga she isn't lying!" Compress called, trying to calm the girl down.
"See, you've fallen for it as well!" She cried. "They abandoned us, they aren't any better than we are!"
You pushed her off one last time with a grunt.
"Will you hear me out?" You scoffed, to which Compress nodded, holding her back. "I specifically issued a command saying that no one should be killed unless absolutely necessary for self defense," you explained, squatting down to face the seated girl. "You've all got families, maybe birth ones or ones you've found along the way. The last thing you need is to be ripped away from them."
"Are you defending Hawks?" Toga asked, annoyed.
"No, quite the opposite," you grumbled. "You villains aren't the only ones who've blamed heroes for losing family," you smiled, reaching your hand out to her. "Villains are just heroes that didn't get saved, so do I get the honours of trying to help?"
Toga looked up at you, a brief image of the young 12 year old girl flitting into your sight. However, she quickly glared at you, innocence turning into venom.
"Never," she spat out. "Don't look down on me or my friends, you're the problem."
"I agree," you sighed, draping your staff across your shoulders. "And I hope this war will fix that problem."
'We'll fix injustice and work together!'
You shared characteristics with him, however you were almost opposites at the same time.
But in that moment where you promised something to the villain in all casualty, that's when she knew she could trust you.
That's when you realised that you weren't all that different.
Generations could pass, but blood was still the one thing you'd always inherit.
And oftentimes, in a world filled with quirks and a society of black and white, people weren't satisfied with what they inherited and who they were.
When Toga didn't respond, you shrugged and walked off Gigantomachia, heading off to wherever you were needed.
"I'm not planning on dying yet, so maybe we can reform the system," you smiled at the girl, flying upwards to see if there was any commotion.
Mr. Compress, however, refused to her go until you were out of sight, purely so that Toga wouldn't attack you.
The girl was knelt down with her arms held back, blood and sweat trickling down her face from the injuries she'd inflicted. Her yellow eyes glared up at you, teeth evidently grit as she tried to figure out why you were willing to forgive her.
Mere months ago she'd impersonated the reporter who was supposed to interview you, only to go missing once you'd begun tracking her.
The actual reporter had showed up a couple days later, kind as ever, however she didn't have Toga's mannerisms or confidence.
Not only that, both of them had also been part of the kidnapping in training camp, something that had scarred all of you.
So how could you forgive them when you knew that all they'd done was traumatise you endlessly?
"You act like you're all that but really you're never going to do shit," Toga spat out, stabbing at you with her machine. "So let me make your life easier and end it."
You slashed at the machine with one of the metal tipped fans Hatsume had made for you, purposefully aiming for the centre of the tube so that it'd render her support equipment useless.
"Do not underestimate me, Toga Himiko," you glared. "I am currently the only person willing to give you a shot."
The girl looked up at you, golden eyes sparkling with dismay and fear as she recognised your power.
Blood covered her clothes as her support equipment lay broken on top of Gigantomachia, Compress still holding her back as he looked up at you in awe.
You scoffed and flew off, spotting trouble in Hawks' direction.
Blue flames surrounded the area, much like the ones from Kamino that still haunted you to this day.
When you arrived at the area, you were shocked at the state of the heroes sent there.
Hawks had his feathers barely hanging on as Dabi burned the mansion, Tokoyami's leg was burnt in an attempt to save his mentor, and Fatgum was fending off troops at the bottom of the mansion.
One who'd stick through to the end, no matter what. One who'd jump in for his friends so as to reduce casualties, and one who always had the others' backs, even in the thick of battle.
You grit your teeth as you put together what had happened.
Against Dabi, you were no match. Your wind would only increase his fire and the heat of his flames could easily vaporise any rain you sent.
So you had to surprise him.
"How ironic that Lieutenant Todoroki Touya kills one of his own soldiers," you drawled, aiming a lightning strike to his arm so that he'd be temporarily out of action. "You're not exactly the least abusive after all, are you?"
His flames extinguished as soon as you brought his past into it, during which you took the opportunity and struck him off the building, though he was saved by comrades.
And the last one, who was a mix of the other three.
A/N: Y/N isn't dead yet, but we're going to make it very emotional and cause pain especially for Bakugo
