You were startled awake by a gunshot.
'Izuku?' You called into your headset, hoping the greenette was alright.
"I'm fine. Just Nagant," he responded as you heard another bullet hit him.
'I'm coming over, send me your location,' you demanded, well aware that the boy was reckless and would only get himself killed.
"Phone's dead," he shrugged. "Bullet passed through it. And you can't use your quirk anyways."
'I'll decoy,' you reasoned, slowly getting up. 'I need to get back onto the field soon.'
"Don't struggle and strain yourself," Midoriya advised.
'Me? Never,' you laughed ruefully, extending your cane and using it to help you walk. 'I'll fly there, it's a rainy night so I'll be able to use my quirk easily.'
"Are you sure Y/N?" Midoriya asked, only to receive no response as you hung up on him, making your way to where he was last supposed to go.
Starting your quirk again after it was overused was more difficult than you wanted to admit. Thankfully, you had the staff to aid you. What was most important, however, was that you'd altered it in the time you were in the shed.
The staff could now help in sensing surroundings, a move that would be stronger once you get your visor fixed, though it was a valid substitute for your quirk.
'Just promise me you'll come back home at the end of the day.'
You tapped your staff on the ground, activating it with ease as you summoned a cloud.
Scrambling onto it, you made your way to Midoriya's last location, where he was fighting the same antihero Hawks had warned him about.
"You idiot!" You groaned, pushing Midoriya out of the way as another bullet nearly hit him.
"Y/N!" He called, thinking you had taken the hit instead.
However, you'd dodged the bullet in time, glaring up at Lady Nagant as she aimed her rifle for you once more.
"So we're playing this game?" You scoffed, spinning your staff around so that the sensitive part stood on the cloud. Using it as leverage, you hauled yourself up. "Well then, I'm glad you've realised that you need to get through me to get to him."
"Y/N don't!" Midoriya warned.
"I nearly died once, I can barely walk and all our classmates believe I'm dead," you scoffed. "If I'm going to die for real I'll make sure it's because I helped stopping one of All for One's minions."
With that, you put your index and middle finger of your right hand together, electricity crackling at the tips of the two fingers.
Your eyes were downcast yet had a feral glint to them, the purple sparks dancing at the tips of your fingers only adding an edge.
"No one hurts my friends and gets away with it," you glared as the sparks grew more powerful. "No one gets to mess up the lives of innocent people for shits and giggles under my watch."
"You think you're all high and mighty but the heroes hide so much from the public," Nagant laughed. "Why do you think I accepted his offer, because I craved death?"
All for One was someone who would kill anyone who was useless to him, and take anyone whom he thought as an asset. You'd witnessed it when Bakugo got kidnapped, you'd seen it when he did nothing even after lieutenants of the Front died.
Yet a former hero accepting his offer puzzled you, especially considering she could've easily made the ranks if she'd just stayed longer.
"The hero society needs to be rebuilt, but it doesn't excuse your actions," you stubbornly stated, gaining more charge as she continued fighting against Midoriya.
The two were a whiz of movement, Midoriya using all his quirks to confuse her while Nagant attempted to shoot multiple times.
"Y/N, put it down," Midoriya glared once he kicked the back of her head, causing her to stumble.
You rolled your eyes and made your way to the building the duo stood on, waiting for Nagant to get up.
"I have the police on speed dial, so think carefully of your next actions," you threatened, lifting her chin up with your staff. "One wrong word and you'll be locked up with your precious All for One."
"Not very hero like, is that now?" She laughed ruefully. "You're a lot like me, Y/N."
"Don't compare me to the likes of you," you glared.
Nagant only shrugged, lifting her arms up. Though suddenly, the rifle made its way out of her elbow once more, this time pointing inbetween the two of you.
"Hero course students like you are taught to save, no matter who the enemy is, am I right?" She asked, to which Midoriya nodded. "Let's put that to action then."
Two gunshots fired inbetween the two of you, causing you to turn and notice the man on a building not too far behind you. The same person who'd tortured your adoptive sister for her entire life.
"You bitch," you hissed, channeling your lightning through your staff as Midoriya stopped the bullets. "Be happy I'm a hero course student."
"I really am, your friend will make a good one," she whispered, eyes rolling back as multiple bombs went off inside her. The purple haired lady fell backwards, unconscious as her quirks gave out.
"All for One rigged her," you concluded, tightly gripping your staff as Midoriya landed next to you.
"You didn't need to help me, I was doing fine on my own," Midoriya scoffed as Hawks swooped in to catch Nagant. "You're supposed to be healing, if we ever return to U.A, I don't need Kaminari killing me."
"The last thing I heard from you was a gunshot and you telling me your phone got crushed, do you know how frustrating that is when you can't do anything?" You groaned, plucking the phone off the building wall.
"Y/N I let you join because you're smart and you know about One for All, not because I need help fighting," he reasoned, watching you limp over to the edge of the building. "Just get some rest for once."
"I've only been resting, our class keeps suffering attacks and I can't even do anything against it," you scoffed, watching Endeavour and the police pull in. "I made a promise not too long ago. It's about time I made good on that."
You had a family too, and no matter how often you tried to resist it the reminder only returned harsher than ever. A ring you could never fix, hallucinations, her voice.
Midoriya sighed and nodded, making his way down where they were arresting Chisaki for questioning.
"Mei, I'll make sure to come back home soon," you whispered to yourself, clutching your torso. "I'll fix this and everything will be great again."
'Promise?'
A
/N: rushed chapter but hey we're getting to the next arc
Summary of what happened so far:
Basically Y/N lost the feeling in her legs and can barely walk after she saved Aizawa, but she trained in the hospital and now in the shack they're living in to get it back. Obviously, she can't work on that all day so she fixed her staff as well, adding an upgrade with technology she salvaged from the visor. Using all that, Y/N can now enter battle again for short amounts of time though Midoriya is still hesitant because he literally saw her "die" once, we don't want to make that a reality. But yeah we're getting Class A reunion soon!
QOTD: thoughts on Y/N joining the fight?
Have a great day/night!
