Kierra
I've been waiting for Brian for about 20 minutes now I'm giving him an extra 10 minutes and the benefit of the doubt on why he's late.
"Now what a beautiful woman like you doing sitting all alone?"
I looked up seeing a guy I looked back down at the time.
"My date stood me up."
"Mind if I join you," he asked.
"Sure."
"I'm Cole by the way," we shook hands.
"Kierra."
"Nice to meet you Kierra."
"Same to you."
"So are you single, newly single or on the outs with your boyfriend?"
"Newly single."
Cole nodded.
"Tell me about yourself Kierra."
"I own my own bakery called Tasty Treats, I have 6 amazing kids and I'm recently divorced."
"Your ex husband isn't crazy he's not going to pop up here is he?"
"No he's not you're fine."
"Oh okay."
"Tell me about you Cole."
"I'm a publicist, I have 3 kids and I'm also single."
"You've never been married?"
"Nah my ex was ready for the next step and I wasn't ready for commitment."
I nodded.
"I can understand that."
We both picked up our menus and looked through them once I decided what I was eating I put the menu back down.
"You can?"
"Yeah if you're not ready for commitment then you're not ready no one can force you to be ready at least you was honest with her and you didn't waste her time."
"You're right about that but I lost her she was the best thing that ever happened to me and she left I hope she has found someone who's willing to give her what she want."
"I'm sure she has."
The waiter came and took our order then he walked away.
"So what caused you and your husband to get a divorce?"
"Years of infidelity and public embarrassment that I'm sure you saw."
"Actually I didn't I really don't do social media unless it's work related other than that I'm more hands on with my kids."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"Oh okay."
"But enough about your past and my past I just want to enjoy tonight with you."
"Same here."
My phone vibrated I looked down seeing that Brian text back. I responded back to him then I blocked him. Brian who?
The waiter came with our drinks and another came with our food we thanked them both I said a prayer and we started eating.
"You pray over your food too?"
"Yeah I do."
"So if I can guess I can say that you're a Christian?"
"I am I was raised up in the church and as I got older my parents let me make my own decisions on whether or not I will go to church and I always went."
"Same here."
"You want to try some of Salmon?"
"No I'm good."
"It's okay really if you want some I'll give you some."
"Okay fine I'll try it just this once."
Cole nodded and cut his salmon and handed me the piece that was on his fork.
"Thank you for sharing."
"You're welcome."
We continued to talk and laugh until we was done eating then once the bill came me and Cole put up a small fight on who was paying after going back and forth I went ahead and let Cole pay. Now we're standing in front of my car door.
"I enjoyed myself tonight Kierra."
"I did too thank you for joining me Cole."
"You're welcome."
I unlocked my car doors and Cole opened the door.
"I'll be contacting you soon about the second date."
"Okay."
Cole kissed my hand and walked away I got in and closed my door locking it behind me as I started up my car. I put my seatbelt on and put the gear in drive and drove off.
Chandra
I looked up from my iPad seeing Melvin looking at me.
"Yeah baby."
"We should go pop up on K."
"No Melvin."
"But baby-," I cut Melvin off.
"But baby nothing K is a grown woman and a single woman at that so she can date whoever she pleases without you or Ky trying to interrupt."
"See my nephew agree with me he just want to see his parents happy."
"And I get that but y'all gotta let K and Aug work on their relationship in the future if that's what they both want."
"You're right about that."
"I know I am and don't go bothering K about our her date went either she'll tell us when she's ready."
"Fine."
"Mhmm."
"What are you over there doing?"
"Huh."
"Don't huh me Chandra you better not be ordering nothing else."
"I'm sorry I can't help it."
"What you done ordered now?"
"A ice maker."
"We have one of those."
"No the one we have the ice don't make crushed ice right anyways."
"You and Chay is going to have to end up having a blood transfusion with all of the blood y'all losing."
"But ice so good especially crushed ice."
"Did you get a text from Chay?"
"I haven't looked at my phone."
"She said her and Kyree have to tell us something and they'll be home in a few days."
"There isn't any telling with them."
"Right."
My phone dinged I looked seeing that Kierra had text me asking to meet her for brunch to Torie.
"Who's that?"
"K she wants to meet for brunch tomorrow."
"Okay oh and before I forget Chay and Kyree will be in this weekend and I believe they're going to stay over for a few days."
"Alright that's fine."
Melvin walked over to me and took my iPad out of my hand then he stood me up.
"Wassup baby."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
"Can we have sex?"
"Baby you don't even have to ask go get the whip cream out of the cabinet then meet me upstairs."
"Yes ma'am."
We kissed and I made my way upstairs while Melvin went into the kitchen to get the whip cream knowing him he's going to get either get the chocolate or strawberry syrup.
