2 months later— October 12, 2031
August
I woke up to cries I sat up and reached over to the bassinet and grabbed Kenzo I checked his diaper then I stood up and walked over to the changing table. After spending 2 months in the hospital in the NICU Kenzo is now home. Once Kierra memory came back 2 months ago in August I left the house and found a townhouse that'll accommodate me and the kids for when they come over and visit. I picked Kenzo up and we walked out of my room and headed downstairs to the kitchen.
"Good morning daddy."
"Good morning Shanee."
"And good morning baby brother," A'Shanee walked over to me and got Kenzo and kissed his forehead.
"Where your sisters and brothers?"
"They went to the store and got some breakfast items."
"All these groceries in the fridge?"
"I'm cooking stuffed pancakes and we used all the pancake mix yesterday morning."
I nodded.
"I'll be back I gotta go brush my teeth."
"Yeah you do that daddy your breath is on a 1,000."
"You lucky you got your brother in your arms."
I walked out of the kitchen and made my way upstairs to my room I walked into the bathroom I washed my face and brushed my teeth.
As I made my back downstairs I heard the kids going back and forth with each other I walked into the kitchen.
"What's going on?"
"Are you okay with mama dating?"
"Khari your mama is a grown woman and we're not married anymore so she can date who she pleases."
A'Shanee and Khari are home from fall break they spent a couple days at Kierra house now they're spending the rest of their time with me.
"And you're cool with that?"
"Yeah."
"Kam, Zuri, Lani y'all go upstairs with Kenzo and let me and Ky talk to daddy."
They all nodded A'Shanee handed Kameron Kenzo along with his bottle and they all walked out of the room we waited until the door closes.
"Alright dad be real are you okay with mama dating?"
"Yeah daddy are you," A'Shanee asked.
"Hell no I'm not okay with her dating but we're not married anymore and if that's what she wants to do then she can plus my therapist told me to let her date."
"But what if she chooses to continue on with dating that other person."
"Then she does."
"Nah see that's not gon work for us we don't want a step dad we want you and mama back together."
"So do I and if it's meant for us to be back together we will but if not then we'll continue on with our separate lives."
"Ion like this August where's my dad at."
"I'm right here Khari listen I've been on a spiritual journey and healing myself the old August that would just snap and go off isn't here anymore."
"Well we need him back so he can stop mama from dating."
"He's not coming back and you two will not interfere with your mama dating."
"Yes sir."
"Now Shanee when and how did you learn how to make stuffed pancakes."
"She learned that in the dorms and from YouTube dad they're amazing."
"I gotta see this."
I sat down and watched as A'Shanee move around the kitchen getting everything that she need I smiled a little because she remind of how Kierra used to move around the kitchen the mornings preparing breakfast.

Chandra is doing my hair for my date tonight and nervous is in an understatement on how I feel right now I haven't been out with no other man besides August but now that we're no longer together it's time for me to get out there and start dating again.
"How the kids feel about you dating again?"
"Girl they're against the entire idea but I'm grown so it don't matter."
"And August?"
"He's fine with it which is a shocker to me."
"Really?"
"Yeah you know something that I don't Cha."
"I do August is a spiritual journey after eating breakfast with the kids he meditates."
"What made him want to go on a spiritual journey?"
"He wanted to heal himself and become a better August so he got started with his research as soon as he got his townhouse and has been on it since he's definitely not the same August that we once he knew he has changed tremendously for the good though."
"I see."
"How are you doing?"
"I'm good."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
"Okay so tell me about this guy who's taking you out?"
"His name is Brian he's an accountant and we've been talking and texting over the phone for a few weeks."
"Is he nice?"
"He seems nice over the phone he's handsome I can tell you that."
"Who is," Melvin asked as he walked through the door.
"The guy who I'm going out with tonight."
"Lemme call Aug right now and let him-," I cut him off.
"He knows that I'm going out tonight."
"And he's cool with it?"
"Yeah."
"Wow so the journey he's on his real?"
"Yes it is Aug has changed."
"Quick question K do you see yourself getting back with August."
I shrugged my shoulders.
"Honestly I don't know what the future us is going to be hell who knows he might start dating hisself."
"Nah he's definitely not dating."
"How you know that Cha?"
"Me and my brother have talked and no I'm not telling you two anything Mel if you'll stop being a dick towards Aug and actually talk to him maybe he'll open up to you."
"Wait a minute you two still aren't talking?"
"Nope and it's all because of Mel Aug have reached out several times to talk to Mel and to apologize but Mel won't even here him out plus he got him blocked."
"Mel," I said as I looked over at him.
"What?"
"You need to talk to August and make him with him."
"But he hurt you K."
"And I get that but it's time to let that go and move on get your bond back with your little brother."
"That's right cause let's not forget at the beginning of our relationship Mel you wasn't always committed to me and you cheated on me too and August didn't treat you how you're treating him."
"Cha is right Mel and you know that."
"Fine I'll go by and talk to him."
"Good."
Melvin walked over and kissed Chandra then he walked out closing the door my phone dinged I looked down and seen that Brian had text me.
