Yetep - Petals From a Rose:
'Like a double-edged sword but all I want is more. What do we do this for? Never meant to start a war but I'm only yours when you need it for the weekend'

A new year had started and with that, Fiona's adult life as well. After graduating from university with a bachelor's degree in Hotel Management and taking six months to find the perfect place to work, life turned out a little different than she imagined it to be. Fiona had applied for jobs at different hotels around her neighbourhood, but either they weren't hiring at the moment or they had found the perfect candidate already. After extending the range of the internet search engines by a few miles, she found a job as a receptionist at Williams Racing and today was going to be her first day.
Fiona could feel the butterflies erupt in her stomach when she stepped out of bed and walked over to the bathroom to take a shower. It was pretty early because the drive over to the factory was quite long from where she lived. Fiona made a mental note to continue her search for an apartment closer to work this evening and while she was washing her hair, she imagined living by herself instead of at her parents' house. It was all becoming real rather quickly. Recently, Fiona had turned 22 and this was the perfect age to move out of her childhood home and start her own adventure, but having a new job and then moving away on top of that, was still a lot to process all at once. Especially when the job she got wasn't at a hotel like she wanted but a Formula 1 racing team.
Fiona had never seen a race herself, but her father had been watching Formula 1 every Sunday for as long as she could remember, so you can imagine how happy he was to hear that his daughter was going to be working for one of the teams. Being a receptionist was obviously not Fiona's dream job, but it was hopefully a step up to bigger and better things. She was looking forward to meeting her new co-workers today and get familiar with the factory and the job she was going to have to do. After she got out of the shower, Fiona dried herself off and brushed her teeth before she walked over to the big chair in the corner of her room and grabbed the clothes she had picked out last night.
Her outfit consisted of light brown trousers, which were one of the staple pieces of her closet, paired with a white chunky-knitted sweater and some gold jewellery. It was a simple outfit, but cute and totally her style and Fiona knew it didn't really matter what she was wearing because she would probably have to change into the team kit at some point today anyway. After she got dressed, Fiona headed back over to the bathroom to apply some makeup to her face and style her hair into her signature look: big waves. She sprayed some perfume on her neck and wrists to finish everything off.
When she realised she was finished getting ready, Fiona took one last look in the mirror, let out a big breath and gave herself a final pep talk: "You can do it, Fi". She turned around, hit the light switch and closed the door behind her before she walked downstairs. Because it was rather early, her parents weren't even up yet so Fiona ate her breakfast alone while she scrolled through her phone for a while. Her boyfriend Miles had sent her a text and for a second she thought it would be a good luck message but after opening it, she soon found out she was completely wrong.
Miles 🔒:
I can't believe you're actually going through with this. Didn't you hear me when I said I don't want you to take that job? What are you going to do: drive an hour and a half back and forth every day? Thanks for letting me know where your priorities lie.
Fiona sighed and placed her phone on the counter. She wasn't going to let him ruin her day. The two of them had argued about this subject numerous times already and Fiona still hadn't heard him name one solid reason as to why she shouldn't take this job. Her relationship with Miles had started going downhill the second she graduated last summer and he found out she wasn't going to be the stay-at-home-and-cook-him-dinner-while-folding-his-underwear type woman that he really wanted her to be. And there were multiple other things Fiona found out in the year and a half they had been dating, that she didn't particularly like. She just didn't have the energy to fight with him anymore.
