ILLENIUM, Annika Wells & Said The Sky - Sad Songs:
'Wish that there was a way I could have saved. One little moment, yeah. Pull it out when I can, handle the pain and know when it's over I was so intact on the night I met you'
The team had spent their Thursday morning checking into their hotel in Imola, a few miles from the circuit and while George was on his way to the track for media day, Fiona joined him to start her first shift. Her job this weekend was being a host to the guests so she was going over their dietary restrictions with the kitchen staff and planning for their arrival later today. "Are you excited to race here?" She asked her boyfriend when they entered the paddock and she immediately saw the sparkles appear in his eyes. "Yes, this track has so much history and even though we raced here last year, it's still pretty special because it's only the second time". Fiona nodded and walked with George to the Williams hospitality unit.
Other team members had worked hard to make sure the building was ready for the weekend and Fiona greeted a few of them when they entered. "I'll see you in a bit, okay? I'm going to my driver room to change and then the fun begins.." Fiona nodded and she turned towards George, not really knowing what to do. 'Do I hug him? Or give him a kiss?' But before she could even decide what to do, George had already turned around after he gave her a small wave. Fiona sighed deeply and turned towards the kitchen. She thought it would get easier once they were officially a couple, but apparently, George wasn't ready to announce it to the team yet. Even though she knew everyone was suspecting it already.
Fiona spent her afternoon making sure everything was ready for the guests to arrive. She checked over their passes, made sure the rooms were booked correctly and she had set up a menu with the kitchen staff to make sure everyone's diets were being taken into consideration. The afternoon had flown by and before she even knew it, Fiona was on her way back to the hotel. The team dinner was usually on a Friday, so she decided to get some room service by herself today. Maddie was still caught up at work and after she had ordered her food, Fiona quickly took a shower. She washed her hair, braiding it while it was still wet to let it air dry with some waves. She got dressed into a pair of joggers and a crop top and scrolled through her phone a bit while she waited for her food.
Earlier that day, Fiona had felt a few cramps come up and after checking the app on her phone, she noticed her period was due this weekend. Luckily, the painkillers had a permanent spot in her handbag so she was all covered for that. It surprised her every month how painful her cramps and the excruciating back pain could get and when she felt the dull beating in her head starting to come up, she decided to take one of the pills as a precautionary measure. Fiona ate her food after it was delivered, while she tried to watch some Italian tv. An hour later, Madeleine arrived back to their room and she fell down onto her bed with a sigh. Fiona laughed at her friend, still dressed in the team gear, between a bunch of bags on the bed.
"How was your day?" She asked and Maddie started to explain all the troubles she had to go through today. The laundry service had messed up so she had been running around the city, trying to find another one while also buying everything they needed for the guest goodie bags. "Sounds like a nightmare". Fiona said and Maddie sat up straight again to laugh along with her friend. "How was yours?" She asked before they talked about Fiona's day for a bit. "Have just been hanging out here for a few hours, felt the horrible headache starting to come up already. Stupid periods, I don't understand why mine have to be this painful.. I hope it calms down a bit tomorrow, I have to give a few tours and take care of the guests all day". She said, rubbing the side of her head while she was talking.
"Have you taken a painkiller yet?" Her best friend asked and Fiona nodded. "Yeah, had one before dinner earlier. Have you ever been in a lot of pain during your period? I have never heard you about it actually.." Fiona said, curious how her friend dealt with hers. "Of course I have cramps, but they aren't nearly as painful as yours. And no headaches or back pain, I just get tired and emotional really easily.." Fiona nodded while her friend was telling her about it. "You just need to rest as much as possible when you get back from work on weekends like these. Just stay in bed, watch some tv. Let your man take care of you". Maddie said, making her best friend smile again. "I'll text him to come over later when he is done". Fiona answered, excited to see George again.
