Culture Code (ft. Elle Vee) - Make A Promise:
'Can we make a promise? That whatever happens, like even if the love ends, we will always be friends, oh. 'Cause if I lost you (you), I'd lose myself too (too). So right before we dive in, can we make a promise, oh?'
A knock at the door made Fiona look up from her phone. "I need to go now, he's here. Thank you for helping me!" She said to her best friend before she waved at her and hung up the FaceTime call. Fiona walked over to the hallway and opened the door, revealing a very handsome George with a big smile on his face. He looked at her face for a second before his eyes moved down towards the little black dress she was wearing. "Wow.." Fiona giggled at his response and turned around to grab her black heels from the shoe rack in the hallway. Her afternoon had been filled with running around her apartment, trying to decide what to wear, until she called Maddie and her best friend asked if she had a little black dress. You could never go wrong with one of those.
Once she had tied up the shoes and grabbed her purse, George offered her an arm and they walked towards his Mercedes that was parked downstairs. "So where are you taking me?" Fiona asked once they both sat down in their seats. She looked at George's outfit. He was wearing black trousers and a white button-up shirt and Fiona could feel her cheeks burning up thinking about the last time he wore such nice clothes at her aunt's wedding. "There is this excellent restaurant here in Oxford that I've been wanting to try for ages, but I never had the right person to take there. And now I do". George said and he looked over at her when he spoke the last words, causing Fiona's lips to turn into a smile.
She lifted her hand and gently placed it on his leg when he started the engine and drove off. Because the restaurant was in Oxford, the drive was only a few minutes but Fiona enjoyed every second of it. Blatantly staring at George's strong hands on the steering wheel and his concentrated face while he drove through the city's streets. He parked the car on a lot close to the main streets of Oxford and walked over to her door to help her out. Fiona turned around and wanted to start walking towards the restaurant when George suddenly pulled on her wrist. He gently pushed her back up against the car while staring straight into her eyes and Fiona gasped a little when she felt the cold metal of the car against her back. George chuckled and leaned in, leaving Fiona speechless when he crashed his lips onto hers.
It was dark outside and the parking lot was empty and Fiona was so grateful for that. All she wanted to do was stay here and kiss this gorgeous man all night, but they had a reservation to make so after a few moments she casually pulled back. "That was.. something else. Can we finish this later?" She asked him with a giggle and George slowly stepped away, taking her hand into his while walking towards the main street of the city. "I'm sorry, I just couldn't help myself. You look so beautiful tonight". He said and Fiona felt a little bad. "Nothing to be sorry about, I'm not complaining at all". She quickly responded and gently squeezed his hand to let him know it was okay. The pair arrived at the restaurant a few minutes later and Fiona's mouth dropped when she saw how luxurious this place was.
"We have a reservation under the name of Russell". George said to the host and he guided them to a table for two in the back of the restaurant. Fiona couldn't believe her eyes. The atmosphere, the interior, the other guests and the food they had on their table, it looked unbelievable. "George, this is too much.." She whispered to him once they sat down. It felt like one of those places where you couldn't talk out loud and George chuckled at her once he heard it. "You are going to have to speak up or else I'll have no clue what you're saying all night". The both of them laughed and Fiona couldn't believe how lucky she was to be here with him. They grabbed the menu's from the table and both picked out what they wanted to eat right before the waiter came over to take their orders.
Fiona suddenly remembered she had something really important to tell George. She had decided to wait and tell him the news she heard yesterday on their date today because she wanted to see his reaction in real life. "I have to tell you something". She started and George raised his eyes to look at hers with a soft smile on his face. He placed his hand on the table with his palm up to the ceiling and Fiona immediately knew he wanted to hold hers. So she placed her hand in his and took a deep breath before she started speaking, enjoying the gentle movements of his thumb on her skin. "Maddie and I were walking towards the exit of the factory yesterday after the launch and suddenly I heard Caroline call my name. She wanted to talk to me about something.." Fiona could tell George's face turned into a concerned look and she had an internal giggle.
