Jassabella's entire body trembled as she remained rooted at the spot for more than fifteen minutes doing nothing but staring blankly at the pruner she was holding in her hands. Her mind went back to Helena's words and the context of their conversation and her heart sank deeper in doubts and fear. Despite the trust she had in her parents, her mind had involuntarily started to put the pieces back together and had come to a conclusion that she was finding extremely difficult to digest.
"There is no way my parents would do that to me, they are mates themselves so they know the importance of the mate bond, they would never deprive me of my mate " Jassabella refused to give in to the evidence her mind had managed to collect but when she realized she couldn't recall anything about herself before the age of nine, panic breached her system causing havoc.
"No it's not possible..." her voice cracked when another set of evidence surfaced in her mind which indicated the girl Helena was talking about was indeed herself.
Firstly, though her family was from the supernatural world they were living in the land of mortals and her parents had never revealed the reason behind departing from their homeland. Plus, her parents had told her that she used to be a sick child and they had to take her to many magical doctors and witches to save her however, they had never clearly mentioned what caused her to be so sick or how they managed to completely cure her that wiped most of her childhood memories.
Her parents had always been super protective of her as she was their only child therefore her logical self reckoned that there was a huge possibility they could try to take her away from her mate if they believed he posed a threat to her.
Letting the pruner fall on the ground, Jassabella rushed back to the temple in search of the head priest to seek the truth. She had to confirm her suspicion and get answers from her parents otherwise the doubts would eat her up alive. Sprinting her way inside the temple, Jassabella went straight to the main prayer room called Kaminoheya, where the head priest would mostly spend his time praying to the almighty goddess.
Unlike other parts of the temple, Kaminoheya was dimmer as only bougies were used to light up the chamber of the goddess to create a perfect ambiance for meditating and devoting all consciousness to the higher power. A huge twenty-foot tall statue of the goddess was centered in the one end with a small pond filled with lotus and fish just before it.
Disturbing the head priest while he was meditating was prohibited but for Jassabella this was the matter of life and death. Plus the only person who could help her connect to the outer world from the temple was the priest therefore without caring about the consequences she entered the hall calling out for him.
"Himejima Samma, are you in there" Jassabella looked around the room which was rather empty except for the sound of fish splashing and swimming, soaring through the air.
"The head priest is out to the mountains to gather rare herbs" Jassabella turned in the direction of the voice when she found a man in a black Yukata lighting up the rest of the bougies in the room.
"When will he be back?" She questioned to which the man shrugged his shoulders.
"Maybe soon or it might take days. Depends upon how soon he can find what he is seeking for?" At once, all hope she had crashed down and the girl was left in tears.
"Is there anything I can help you with in his absence, princess Jassabella?" noticing the worried look on the girl's face, the man questioned stepping out of the shadow.
"Is there any way I can contact my parents in the mortal land? If there is can you help me with it" clasping her hands together Jassabella pleaded but the face of the man morphed into an apologetic one.
