(Y/N) POV

2 years have past since I joined this mission to help Prince Zuko find the Avatar. Not only am I his bodyguard but also became his best friend who he can talk to whenever he wants. Right now we are sailing through the South Pole for ... I don't know I lost count. Prince Zuko, General Iroh and I were on deck. He looked out on the horizon while I was playing Pai Sho with General Iroh.

Suddenly a light beam shot to the sky.

Could it be the Avatar?

Could it be the Avatar?

"Finally!", Prince Zuko said.
He turned towards General Iroh and I.
"Uncle, (Y/N), do you realize what this mean?"
"We won't get to finish our game?", General Iroh annoyingly responded.
Prince Zuko turned back to look at the light beam.
"It means my search ... it's about to come to an end.", Prince Zuko answered.
General Iroh groaned.
"That light came from an incredibly powerful source. It has to be him.", Prince Zuko assumed.
"It's just the celestial lights.", General Iroh presumed, "We've been down this road before, Prince Zuko. I don't want you to get too excited, over nothing. Please, sit. Why don't you enjoy a cup of calming jasmine tea?", General Iroh proposed to his nephew.
But Prince Zuko snapped at his uncle:
"I don't need any calming tea! I need to capture the Avatar."
"He's right, Prince Zuko, you should sit with us and drink tea.", I affirmed taking a sip.
He ignored me.
"Headsman, head a course for the light.", he shouted pointing the direction where the light beam was before.

General Iroh and I continued to play Pai Sho when a strong wind stream past through the tiles.

Night nearly fell, Prince Zuko and I were standing on the upper deck in our night robes looking at the direction of the light beam.

"I'm going to bed, now.", General Iroh stated behind us. He yawned. "Yep. A man needs his rest. Prince Zuko, you need some sleep. Especially you, (Y/N), a lady needs her beauty sleep. Even if you are right, and the Avatar is alive, you won't find him. Your father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, all tried and failed.", General Iroh clarified.
"Because their honor didn't hinge on the Avatar's capture. Mine does! This coward's 100 years in hiding are over.", Prince Zuko said.

I heard General Iroh's footsteps go mute step by step.

Silence.

"What do you think, (Y/N)? Could it be the Avatar?", Prince Zuko asked breaking the silence.
I looked at him for a few seconds and then back at the horizon.
"I don't know. But I believe it's him.", I answered.
I put my hand on his shoulder. I could feel him tense up.
"We should go to bed.", I suggested.

Prince Zuko nodded to me. We went to our cabin doors. Since I'm his bodyguard, I have my room next to his.

"Goodnight Prince Zuko."
"Goodnight (Y/N)."

Next morning

We were on deck for training. Prince Zuko faced two Fire Nation soldiers while I was standing next to General.

"Again!", he commanded.

Prince Zuko shot two fireballs at the soldiers. He avoided the soldiers shots by spiraling his body in the air while shooting fire from his hands. He waited for the next shot but General Iroh interrupted the fight:
"No, power in firebending comes from the breath, not the muscles."
He turned towards me.
"(Y/N), please demonstrate."
I nodded and took my stance.
"The breath becomes energy in the body. The energy extends past your limbs and becomes fire!", General Iroh explained and I shot fire from my fist to demonstrate. "Get it right this time."
"Enough! I've been drilling this sequence, all day. Teach me the next, I'm ready.", Prince Zuko snapped.
"No, you are impatient. You have, yet, to master your basics. Drill it again!", his uncle shouted.

Prince Zuko growled and shot fire at one of the soldiers but that soldier couldn't deflect it in time and fell down. I went to him to see if he was okay.
"The sages tell us that the Avatar is the last airbender. He must be over a hundred years old, by now. He's had a century to master the elements. I'll need more than basics firebending to defeat him. You will teach me the advanced set!", Prince Zuko snapped at his uncle glaring at him.
General Iroh glared back.
"Very well.", then his glare changed into a happy grin,"But first, I must finish my roast duck.", General Iroh said taking his bowl.
Prince Zuko looked at him eating with an outraged face.

I kneeled down in front of the fallen soldier.
"Are you okay?", I asked him.
He nodded. I helped him stand up and turned to the other soldier.
"We will resume training another day. You may leave.", I told them.

Time Skip

I was standing behind Prince Zuko while he's looking through the telescope on the upper deck.

Zuko's POV

I was looking through the telescope how the Avatar came out of the destroyed firenavy ship carrying another person.

"The last Airbender. Quite agile, for his old age."
I turned and pointed towards a soldier.
"Wake my uncle! Tell him ... I found the Avatar,", I turned the telescope to the left seeing the Southern Water Tribe, "as well as his hiding place."
