Angel

Daisy slept soundly with her arms wrapped around my torso and her delicate fingertips stroking over my chest.

I felt some type of comfort after tonight. It seemed more like a weight was taken from my shoulders that I wasn't aware of.

The words that came out of her mouth after I confessed took away my unnecessary anxiety.

Of course, I wasn't certain she loved me back, in fact, I didn't think anyone could ever love me, but she did.

When I looked down at her, her hair had spread out across my chest and her body gripped mine, making me chuckle at her sleepy state.

It was 5 a.m., and I needed to get to work, but I didn't have the courage to get up and separate myself from her.

So I called it off and grabbed my laptop to take care of some business.

I positioned the laptop on my lap and took care not to disturb Daisy, despite the fact that she was a deep sleeper and unlikely to be awakened by anything.

I ran a hand through my hair and began to do my work.

"Do you like dogs?"   Daisy asked as she raised her eyes from her phone.

I raised an eyebrow in response to her rather random question.

"Sure," I say, unsure of what else to say.

"We should get one." She mumbled.

I smile slightly at her outburst.

"Whatever you want," I answer as I finish the final transaction on the contract my father had given me.

"Wait, really?" She questions, astonished.

I hummed back, and I soon heard her light footsteps pattering against the floorboards, signalling that she was approaching me.

"We should get some fish, one that looks like Nemo and the other one that resembles Dory." She adds,

I smirk as I continue to type; she amuses me as she always does. Her brief ramblings, if not her voice alone, seemed to calm me down.

As she stood across from me, she fell silent for a moment, but I didn't pay attention as I was focused on finishing the last page.

"What is this?" I turned to face her when I heard her question.

I looked down at her hands, which were holding the penthouse forms that I had rented out for Italy, since we couldn't stay at our house due to it being repaired.

I tightened my jaw, knowing I hadn't wanted to tell her like this.

"You're going to Italy?" She asks, her voice faltering slightly as she spoke.

I stood up and walked over to her, staring at her blankly.

She shuffled slightly on her feet, her gaze avoiding mine as she played idly with the bracelet I gave her.

I gently withdrew the paper from her grip and directed her gaze to mine. I reached down to the desk and retrieved the envelope with that was supposed to be for her, without losing eye contact with her.

I propped it up and handed her the envelope.

"We, are going to Italy." I correct.

She frowns as she opens the envelope, she takes out the paper that held her own details for the penthouse, her eyes scanning every detail before returning to mine.

The slight sadness faded away as shock and excitement took its place.

"Really?" She questions her brown eyes, glowing.

I hum and she squeals as she throws her arms around my neck.

"This is so exciting! I was afraid you were going to leave me," She rambled.

I scoff at her assumption.

"I'd never leave you, moonlight,"

She takes a step back and smiles shyly, "I know," she says.

I tilted my head and pointed a finger to my cheek.

She giggles and presses her lips against my cheek before moving on to the other.

"What are we doing there anyway?" she wonders, leaning back but not far enough to release.

"Business," I respond.

She mumbled, "Oh, well, you'll have to take me everywhere you know! I've seen how pretty it is on TV!"

"It's nice," I remark, shrugging and twirling a strand of her hair, something that has become my habit.

"And, I will." I add.

She smiled up at me, and it was the kind of smile that had me weak in the knees.

"I love you." She says softly.

I smile and lean in close to her, my lips touching hers.

"I love you." I whisper back.
