I opened my eyes to a dark room with the fireplace being the only light.

"Hey." I looked up to see a younger girl stand up. "Mother made dinner, I thought you'd want some too." She held out a bowl with pieces of meat and vegetables in it.

"Hi? Thanks." I sat up, don't tell me she waited for me to wake up.

She sat on a small stool nearby, fidgeting a little as I observed her.

"Who are your ancestors girl?" I asked, taking a piece and popping it in my mouth as I squinted my eyes.

"Ah euh, all I know is my family came from a bit lower in Solor why?"

"Nothing.... You look familiar to someone." I said with a shrug, red eyes and white hair, I sense no magic from her so she can't be, but if she just grew her hair out, she might look like the human body of th-- "Hey miss what is your name I'm Skarla." She cut my line of thought and looked embarrassed as she covered her mouth.

"I'm qu-- I'm Seva of Morton."

"What a weird name." She whispered to herself. "I never met someone named like that and I met a lot of people, where is Morton? That town name doesn't ring a bell."

"It is the old name of Solor's stronghold, I guess it is not called that anymore?"

"Oh right... Yeah just called capitol or Solor's capitol."

"I lived extremely long ago it seems, Skarla was it? Tell me about life here, the royalty, mages and all that."

"Well.... Centuries ago dragon's abandoned humanity because no one of the royal of-springs that came forth after the death of the silver and purple queens were fit for the throne and the one known as the Gatekeeper and The Silver-shield were of no ties with Solor. The kids refused to abdicate and declared rebellion to the dragons' unjust rule over humanity."

I covered my eyes with my hand, this is worst then I thought.

"So now those that rule are illegitimate?"

"Basically, the elementals didn't see this good to be left like this, along with the elves and the southern closest human kingdom they declared war on Solor."

"So our alliance with any ruler is in pieces too..."

"Yes."

"....Continue."

"Well what I know are stories said mouth to mouth as it is punishable by death to evoke the past but Solor won the war and since then only wild mages have sat on the throne, the parents teaching their kids the worst of spells to reign with fear and hate over us and killed all the elementals they could get their hands on... Now when one is born it takes less then a week for the Elite to be notified and take the child away." And I am supposed to fix this mess?

"Who are the Elite?"

"The strongest cast of wild mages taught the darkest of spells."

I dropped the bowl in shock, it can't be, they can't be learning those spells can they? They have been sealed into a book a century before my birth.

"Don't tell me the tome of darkness is in use..." I whispered in horror.

"If the rumors are true they are working on disabling the spells on the book of the dead if we are talking about the same book."

"I think we are... Gods help me." I shook myself out, I don't want to think about that. "Skarla what happened to my hair?"

"Oh euh it was filled with stone pieces, it was easy to take the pieces off your skin but hair it was impossible even with help after I brought you back.... And the dark green.... You know.... A give away."

"You sure like the conspiratorial whispering tone."

"Being an elemental is a death wish and hiding one is complicity, we all know dark green hair is not natural."

"So why did you help me?" I felt like she didn't pose any danger to me as my magic was stabilizing, now the burning just an irritable itch.

"Because I am fascinated by the past where dragons were not just myths, where elementals were said to guard the queens of this land, times when Devines walked the land, times where magic was not restricted to the Elite or you being executed for it at your birth."

I took a deep breath and sighed.

"Why me gods?" I whispered and I knew she felt uncomfortable.

"But are you..." She tried to ask, catching me before I sank in my thoughts. "You know...."

"I was born elemental yes." I confirmed her thought, a spark of wonder and amazement shown in her eyes as she tried to smile normally but failed, a huge smile drew itself on her face.

I couldn't help but smile, it was contagious.

Her eyes sparkled like my magic and I knew for reason we were fated to meet. that my destiny was tied to hers in a way neither of us knew.

Alright gods, I will play your game and save everyone.

Lets see how much damage can one small spark do when the pillars of power are built from papers of lies.
