3 months later

After that day, things changed a lot. Not only did Renjun and Jeno lose their best friend, but Jaemin also became the king of his dynasty after all that happened. They never mentioned who killed the queen and the king, because people might have seen that whole situation from a different light than they did, they might not have understood why they had to kill their parents in such brutal way and they might have not wanted to understand their motives or care about their reasons. So, after that day, Jaemin stated that his parents were murdered while he was gone to school. Some higher ups might have not believed him, but he was a good liar so he managed to make them believe him with all costs.

At Donghyuck's funeral, Renjun found Jeno crying for the first time since he met him. They both cried in the end and after they went back home, they didn't speak in hours. Renjun was too shocked because the blonde haired died when they promised they will leave that castle alive. If only Donghyuck wouldn't have been so reckless. As for Jeno, he felt guilty for a long time because he didn't manage to apologize to his best friend before it was too late. Each time he visited his grave, that was right behind his castle, he apologized to Donghyuck for being a bad friend. That guy never deserved to be put in such difficult situations and Jeno realized it only when it was too late.

"You're here again?" A soft voice made Jeno flinch. He was so deep into his thoughts, while his eyes were fixed on a picture with Donghyuck smiling like a child, that he forgot about the world that surrounded him. If only he could still see that smile for at least one more time in real life. The blonde haired vampire looked around at Renjun. He was back to his original brown haired hairstyle which made him look cute. The vampire sat down next to him and sighed. "He wouldn't want us to be sad."

"I know." Jeno mumbled as he hugged his knees to his chest. Still, he couldn't help but feel bad. If only he didn't kill him when they were kids he could have brought him back this time, but maybe it was his price that had to be paid because he acted like a jerk to everyone he knew. "He didn't deserve to die."

"I know." Renjun felt his lower lip tremble. Donghyuck really was a bright and pure soul that he managed to break. He really didn't deserve to die like that, instead, he deserved happiness. Maybe Mark would have made him happy if he was still alive. "Still, he would want us to move on." Renjun rested his head on his shoulder and stared at the picture of his best friend. He was the one who took it when they were in school after around three months from their first interaction. Donghyuck was just about to prank mister Moon and he was more than excited to do so. "Have you heard from Jaemin?"

Because the raven haired vampire was suddenly hit by a wave of duties, it was hard to talk to him. Also they couldn't just go in the other territory as they pleased.

"I talked to him last night." Jeno's voice vibrated through his whole body as he spoke. "He's busy as fuck because being a king isn't easy." He chuckled. He was one as well, but he managed to make some time every day. "I think that if people see we get along, then things will change in better."

"How can you be so sure?" Renjun asked. He glanced up at him, but Jeno was looking at the forest behind. Some birds were tweeting through the threes, a soft song that lingered in the air for a long time.

"If they see their kings get along then they will realize we don't need to be enemies anymore. We are all vampires so we could easily be okay with each other."

Renjun didn't say anything. He was right, but some of them might not understand that. They will want no matter what to have enemies, but since they were all the same, they didn't need to be so hostile with each other.

In those months he lived with Jeno, the vampire realized he really had a heart despite all the trauma he received as a kid. He cared for others and as much as he disliked to admit, Renjun found out he also had a heart as well. He didn't lose it after so much time, but he was still not ready to share it with others as he should. It was a scary thing and thought, but he was glad Jeno understood him.
