Chapter 34: Argument

Charlie shook his head tiredly. His ears were starting to hurt from Simon and Eddie's shouting.

"If we don't have to tell her, then don't tell her! It could cause her even more emotional pain!" Simon shouted.

"We should!" Eddie snapped back.

"She doesn't have to know!"

"Are you sure? Because if we told her earlier, she might've not been caught by our father and nearly killed!"

"Hey, what's going on here?" Sharpclaw whispered to Charlie.

"They're... discussing whether or not Dr. Collingwood should be told... you know."

"More like yelling and screaming about it."

"Yeah." Sharpclaw raised his voice over the cacophony of the two brothers' arguing. "Simon, why do you think she shouldn't know?"

Simon stopped. "You're young," he said softly. "You shouldn't be burdened with things like this."

"I'm gonna undergo my Ceremony of True Maturity in a year or two. I'm not just a kid anymore. I say I should be learning about things like this."

Charlie nodded. "To be fair, he is right. And Sharpclaw is trustworthy. It's important for him to learn how to deal with conflicts and disagreements between families in a civil way."

Simon drew in a deep breath. "I... I feel that it's not necessary."

"Why?"

"It could cause more trouble for her."

Eddie's claws scuffed the floor. "Charlie, what do you think?"

Charlie let out a deep sigh. He'd shoved this decision to the back of his mind ever since he had first learned that Molly worked here, but due to all the recent events, he couldn't put it off any longer.

In an instant the decision was made. Molly had to learn the truth.

"We should tell her. It's not just our family matter, it's hers as well. She has a right to know."

"Then how exactly will we do that? I highly doubt Director Jones trusts us enough to allow a private conversation with her," Simon rapped his claws against the floor. "And knowing them they might just choose to violate her privacy and ours entirely by videotaping the whole thing."

"He does trust Billy and John though, more or less," Eddie pointed out. "You guys know about how the former captured the Chaos Insurgency mole. We could ask them for help."

Charlie nodded. "Alright then, that's what we'll do."
