It's been about a week now since Lilah went off to Memphis to stay with her Aunt. We haven't heard much from her, mostly just little updates every few days, and we're just trying to give her space until she settles in and making sure she knows we're here if she needs us.
"Are you sure you want to do this today?" Karlie looks up to me from the floor where she's changing Auggie's diaper. "Karlie, baby, we are getting married next weekend and neither of us has a wedding dress yet. You might be okay waiting till a couple days before, but I will not relax until I find the perfect dresses for Ro and I."
The model rolls her eyes as she laughs at me, we've been pretty relaxed about the whole wedding thing, but this is the one thing that I can't just leave till the very last minute. My mom and Abbie are coming shopping with us today, but Karlie has to wait until she sees her mom and sisters in New York next week - not that she really minds waiting, not like I do. Kar is the kind who's always late and is very good at winging it, but I'm the complete opposite.
Karlie gets up with August in her arms and I coo at the little guy as I sigh, he's getting so big and his little personality develops everyday. I can't believe he's nearly two months old.
"Hey," Karlie smiles as she lifts my chin to make me look at her, "all that matters to me is that I get to say 'I do' and make you my wife, you could wear sweats for all I care - you'd still be the most beautiful woman I've ever met, and I'm so incredibly lucky to spend the rest of my life with you."
I smile as I melt into her eyes, the model pulling me into a soft kiss. "I can't wait to marry you," I sigh as I pull away. She's my soulmate, and I don't know how I let so many years go by without her by my side.
"Mommy, can we go now, please?" I let go of Karlie as I laugh, turning to Rosie as she runs into the room. "Don't you look beautiful," I smile at her as I lift her up onto my hip, "our little princess," I kiss her cheek as Karlie laughs, Rosie was determined to wear her frozen princess dress and who was I to tell her no - she looks adorable. "Are you gonna be good for mommy?" Rosie is a Mama's girl through and through so she nods profusely as Karlie raises her eyebrows and gives her the stern, no nonsense look. "I pinky promise, Mama," Rosie is always good when we're out, especially if she's getting to spend time with her Grammy, so we both know she means it when she pinky promises.
I tell the little blonde to go and put her shoes on, so Rosie goes to grab them and wait by the front door as I grab her backpack and make sure we have everything we need for the next few hours.
"I'm seeing my therapist at two, so if I'm gone when you get back then that's where we'll be," Karlie's keeping Auggie so I don't have to worry about him around a bunch of white dresses. "I'm proud of you, you know," I smile as I look back to her and she gives me a confused look, "you haven't had a panic attack in more than a week, Karls."
Before she started therapy, she was a mess. She couldn't sleep through the night or be away from the kids - she was traumatised and terrified. But it's been a few weeks and she's sleeping better, or as well as she can with a little baby, and the panic attacks seem to be easing a little too.
"I love you," she gives me a warm smile as she adjusts Auggie in her arms, "I love you too," I kiss her quickly as I pass her, hearing an impatient Rosie calling for me in the hallway. She's been so excited about this since I told her we were going, she's going to look like a real life princess.
I help Rosie up into the car and strap her in, sitting her backpack down by her feet once she's secured. She swings her legs as I get in, handing her my phone to play some music and laughing to myself when 'You Are In Love' starts playing. Karlie made her a playlist of "songs mommy wrote about Mama" and Rosie absolutely adores every single one - she's one of my biggest fans and it's the sweetest thing ever. She's pretty convinced that Karlie and I are a real life fairytale.
