Lilah had her amazing night with Antonia on Friday which set birthday weekend off on a wonderful note. My birthday was Saturday and I woke up to breakfast in bed from Lilah and Ro and Karlie and Auggie bringing me some incredibly thoughtful and beautiful gifts. All I wanted to celebrate this year was a family dinner, so Kar picked Selena up after Ro's swim class and we all met at my parents' house.

Everything was perfect, we were celebrating my birthday and Lilah's, Austin even flew into town especially and he got to meet Lilah for the first time and surprisingly he was a big hit with her - probably because he spent the whole afternoon embarassing me. Then just before we sat down to eat dinner we heard a very frantic cry from the bathroom from a very panicked Selena who was going into labour.

The rest of my birthday was then spent in a delivery room with my amazing best friend as she gave birth to my beautiful niece. So, Alessia Taya Gomez was born on December 13th at 11.13pm and I now get the honour of sharing every birthday with my goddaughter.

"Are you ready?" I smile as I look back to Selena, the brunette in the backseat with her baby girl as I get into the drivers seat. "Is it too late to get Karlie to drive?" She laughs and I gasp in offence, "I'm a lot better at driving these days," I laugh as she smiles back at me, "I know, T, becoming a mom really straightened out your bad habits."

I roll my eyes as I laugh too, I know she's just kidding but she's also right - becoming a mom really did give me the incentive to be a bit better about certain things, like my driving.

I make sure everyone is buckled in safely again before leaving and I can feel the nerves radiating from Selena in the backseat. I did remind her that she's more than welcome to come and stay with us for as long as she needs to feel confident, but she insisted that if she's going to be a mom then she needs to do it alone from day one.

"You have a welcoming party waiting for you," I spot the cars parked outside of her house and Selena smiles, "you're about to see just how loved you are, sweetheart," she coos at her daughter as I pull into the driveway and park the car. I help Sel out first so that she doesn't hurt herself and then I quickly retrieve the car seat as the front door opens and Lilah comes over.

"Welcome home," she laughs as she hugs the brunette and Selena is quick to make a fuss, "I'm so sorry I missed your birthday, honey, I promise I'll make it up to you." Lilah just shakes her head as she lets the woman go, "are you kidding? I got the best birthday present ever," she takes the car seat from me and I smile at my kid as I get the bags from the trunk, "you can miss all my birthdays if you're gonna keep having kids this cute."

Lilah carries the car seat and I carry the bags as Sel slowly makes her way up the path into the house, met very quickly by an excited Rosie. "You can see the baby in two seconds, bug, you've gotta let Auntie Selly in the door first, okay?" I laugh as I usher her back towards the living room, sitting the bags down by the stairs to take them upstairs later.

My mom and Austin are waiting with Karlie and the kids. Sel spoke to her parents but neither seemed very enthusiastic about their granddaughter, her sisters on the other hand, they were ecstatic and can't wait to meet their niece.

"How are you feeling, sweetheart?" My mom is the first to wrap Selena in a hug. It's definitely not just me who thinks of her as family, that's for sure. "I'm amazing," she smiles as she glances to Alessia who is still snoozing in her car seat even despite the noise of the kids. "I'm going to make coffee," Austin interjects, "or tea, it's a tea right?" Sel nods as she laughs at my fumbling little brother, "tea would be amazing, Aust."
