Antonia stayed with us for the week that her parents were away but they got back yesterday which means that the teen is off home, much to Lilah's dismay. However, that means Kar and I need to make time for that conversation with her and neither of us is particularly excited about it.
"Are you sure about this?" Karlie gives me a nervous look as I park the car and I nod, "we're already here, and Sel and Lily are meeting us so we can't really back out now." We haven't done much with the kids lately and Ro has been going a bit stir crazy so we agreed to meet our friends and take the kids to the aquarium. Lilah did try and bail out to see her friends, but all it took was a few seconds of begging from Rosie and Dixie for her to give in and come with us.
"It'll be fine, mom, relax," Lilah chimes in as she opens her door and I laugh, looking over to Karlie as I smile, "see, it'll be fine," I pull her into a quick kiss before getting out and taking Auggie's stroller out of the trunk, popping it up and bringing it to the side of the car before lifting him out and clipping him in. "Are you excited, buddy?" I coo as I stand in front of Auggie, the little guy babbling and pulling at the toy attached to his seat.
Karlie gets Rosie out and the girls come to us as security come to quickly clarify a few things and then I spot Lily and Selena with their kids waiting nearby.
Karlie keeps a hold of Rosie's hand as we walk through the car park, Lilah walking between the two of us as I push August in his stroller. Rosie runs straight to Dixie - the two girls are a couple of years apart in age but Rosie adores her and Dixie loves Rosie like she's her own little sister.
"Hi Less," Lilah laughs at the smiley baby in Selena's arms - she's become head babysitter over the last few months and those two are totally obsessed with each other. If Lil isn't with Antonia or her friends then usually she'll be at Selena's with the baby. "You're getting so big, Win!" Lily has the little guy on her hip and I open my arms to him for a cuddle which he accepts, so I steal him from his mommy. "And you're hair is almost as long as mine," I laugh as I cover his little face in kisses and he erupts into a fit of giggles.
Karlie and Lily decide to go and buy tickets to avoid annoying anyone with our mountain of excited kids, so Sel and I stay with the little ones until they get back. "Mom?" I look over to Lilah with a raised eyebrow as she gets that tone in her voice she uses when she wants to ask for something, "Delilah?" I laugh and she rolls her eyes, knowing that I know her better than to fall for the sweetness and light act. "Nia's parents go to The Hamptons for a few weeks every summer and her moms have invited me to go with them this year," I nod, realising why she was trying to be so sweet about it.
"I'm not saying no, alright? But this needs to be a bigger conversation than we can have right now, so we'll sit down and talk about it tonight, okay?" I guess she was hoping that I'd be distracted enough to just agree straight away and if she was asking to spend the weekend at Nia's or something I probably would just say yes, but she's asking to spend a couple weeks in a different state with people we don't know particularly well. That needs to be a bigger conversation.
Karlie and Lily come back, so Winston goes back to his mommy so Karlie can walk with the two younger girls and I can push Auggie's stroller. Rosie has been super excited about this for the past few days so it's nice to see her have some fun outside of our house.
Auggie seems to be looking around in complete amazement from his stroller so I take him out and carry him while pushing it so she can see better. "Look, buddy, all the pretty colours," I smile at him as he grins, standing right by the glass so he can watch the fish. "You like that, huh?" He's completely mesmerised by all the fish, "maybe we should get you some fishes for your birthday," I think out loud as I walk with him. We've been trying to figure out what to get him for his birthday because he's a baby with everything a baby could possibly need or want.
