"Do you really think this is a good idea?" I spent my weekend off here with Taylor, just like planned, and we spent the time with Rosie, the little one truly settling into the routine Tay is trying to set for her. "I think we all need to get out for a little while and Ro needs more than the two sets of pyjamas and clothes that she has," I laugh as I rub the blonde's arm, "plus, you're the one that decided to live here because there's basically no paparazzi, it'll be fine."
Taylor sighs but nods in agreement, she knew she'd have to venture out with Rosie eventually but even though she knows it's unlikely she's nervous about paparazzi swarming us. That's why I proposed we go out for the first time with both of us here before I have to fly back to New York tomorrow morning.
"I'll round Rosie up and you finish getting ready," I give her no more time to argue, I kiss the singer's cheek before getting up and leaving the room, Taylor sighing as she stands in front of the mirror. The nature of her career has always made her nervous when bringing new people in, especially someone as innocent and vulnerable as Rosie.
"Rosie Posie, where are you hiding?" I laugh as I walk into the living room, Sofia the First still playing on the TV. I can hear giggling from somewhere in the room and raise an eyebrow as I turn towards the window, "I wonder where she may be?" Rosie tries to stop her giggles as she hides in the bay window, but I pull the curtain back and find the little girl, picking her up and spinning her around as she laughs her little head off.
"Stop it! Stop," Rosie is still laughing as I set her down on the ground, smiling as I kneel down too. "We need to go and run some errands, little miss, so why don't you go and grab your shoes and then I'll fix your hair," Rosie nods and I chuckle as she runs off to grab her shoes from the backdoor.
"You look beautiful," Taylor appears as I help Rosie with her shoes and the singer smiles as she presses a soft kiss to the crown of the little girl's head, "thank you." I've made a habit of knowing how to keep Taylor calm and put a smile on her face, so I hope that even though my presence was unexpected this weekend, it made her life a little easier.
"Do you want me to braid your hair, Rosie bug?" The little one was super nervous about anyone touching her hair for the first few days but the consistent gentleness from her foster mom whenever she did do her hair has eased her nerves significantly. Taylor smiles as Rosie nods, "one braid or two?" Ro tilts her head back as she holds up two fingers and Taylor smiles as she presses a kiss to the little one's face.
Ro and I make faces back and forth at each other as Taylor braids the little one's hair, and I can't help thinking about how perfect all of this feels; how happy we all are.
"Come on then, let's go," she sighs as she smiles and I note her nerves, but once Taylor has retrieved her purse and keys along with a sweater for Rosie - just in case the summer heat lets up - I intertwine our fingers, and for a brief moment Taylor loses all of her worries.
Tay helps Rosie climb into the back of the car, smiling calmly as Ro chatters about the cats and the number of princesses that have been introduced to her over the last few days, and then she makes sure the little girl is buckled safely into her booster seat before getting into the driver's seat.
The drive into town isn't far, Taylor's home being in a quiet neighbourhood just outside of the city, not far from her parents. Rosie and I spend the ride singing Taylor's songs, trying to make the singer smile and reassure her that this trip out of the house isn't anything to stress about.
We park up, planning to walk around instead, and Rosie happily walks between us as she takes our hands. Rosie feels safe with us and after her start in life we're both happy that she's finally in a place where she doesn't have to worry about her every little move. No five year old should ever have to worry like that.
