Three days away from Karlie and the kids felt like an eternity, and when she filled me in on everything I missed - I felt awful about not being here for Lil when she was obviously struggling, however I know Karlie handled it well, that's one thing I can always count on.
"Mommy, why isn't mama taking us to school today?" Rosie looks up at me as she holds my hand and I carry August out to the car, "mama isn't feeling very well this morning, Roo, but hopefully she'll be feeling better for pick up." Karlie's morning sickness has been extreme since it's a multiple pregnancy, so she feels pretty awful most days, but today she woke up with a lot of pain in her back and pelvis, so I told her to stay in bed for a bit longer and I'd take the kids to school. She has an appointment with Dr King in a couple of hours anyway, so if she's not feeling any better then we can bring it up.
I get the two little ones into the car as we wait on Lilah. The teen never came down to breakfast, but I think she was up late on the phone to Antonia so that's not surprising.
"Are you feeling alright, honey?" When she does appear out of the house, she looks pale and tired. "I'm fine," she gives me a soft smile as she climbs into the passenger's seat and I frown because that was obviously a lie. "There's a granola bar and some extra fruit in your lunch because you missed breakfast," I decide to let it go, she's either not feeling well or somethings going on and one way or another we'll find out eventually. "Thanks," she smiles again before focusing on her phone, ignoring everyone else until we get to the school.
She helps Rosie out and takes her hand, the little blonde waving goodbye as I tell them I love them and I'll see them later on.
"I don't think sissy is feeling very well either, huh?" I glance back at Auggie who's happily playing with his toys, blissfully unaware of what I'm saying.

"Look at you pretty girl," I laugh as I open up the front door to reveal Selena and Alessia, my goddaughter immediately reaching out to me. "I missed you, angel," I kiss her little face as Selena follows me into the house, she's watching Auggie for us today so we can go to our appointment. "Where's Karlie?" The brunette looks around as we go into the living room and I put Alessia into the playpen beside August.
"She's still getting ready, she wasn't feeling great so I told her to take her time," Selena nods as she sits down, "go and check on her, I'll watch these two little monsters," I nod, giving her a soft smile, "I'll be back in a minute."
Sel stays with the babies as I go upstairs to find Karlie. "Baby?" I call out to her, the bedroom empty when I walk in, "here," her voice sounds weak when she calls to me from the bathroom. "Karls?" I push the door open to find her leaning against the counter, "I don't feel right, Teff," she shakes her head as I move to her side, "what's wrong?" I frown as I rub her back and she just shakes her head again, "I'm not bleeding, but I just know something's wrong."
I nod as I swallow back my own nerves, I know she must be terrified. "I'll call Dr King and let her know in advance, are you ready to go?" Karlie nods so I just rub her back and kiss her cheek, "it's gonna be okay, come on." She takes my hand and holds it tight, so I squeeze hers back - trying to reassure her that it's all gonna be alright.
Karlie follows me back downstairs as she takes shaky breaths. She's trying to hold back her panic, this has been her worst fear since we found out she's carrying twins.
She goes to grab her things while I quickly call Dr King's office so that she's aware of the situation before we get there. "What's wrong?" Selena comes up behind me when I end the call and I sigh, "Kar thinks something's wrong, she's not feeling great at all." Selena gets the same nervous look on her face that I'm feeling inside, "go, I've got Auggie." I nod as I thank her, promising to keep her informed before going to kiss Auggie goodbye and going to find Karlie since she's already waiting in the car.
