At half past four in the afternoon, Eydelme had everything ready. She was going to tell Paula the answers she was looking for.
-Are you ready, child?
-Yes," said Paula, coming closer.
-Tell me your father's name.
-Rodrigo Barboza," said Paula.
-Perfect. It's time, I need you to give me your hand, and you are going to pronounce the following words with me: Breil Yocato Ishuib Meichivo," said the psychic.
Paula pronounced the words at the same time as Eydelme. And from the palm of her hand gushed a dark substance, as if it were oil, but a black colored oil. She didn't know how that had happened, if she hadn't felt anything. Eydelme proceeded to take a drop of the substance in an eyedropper and poured it into the cauldron. She then threw a sheet of paper into the cauldron, where there was the drop of the substance and other things such as herbs. Eydelme uttered a series of strange words with her hands outstretched and palms open toward the cauldron.
-Turn around, Paula," said Eydelme, "you must not see what is about to happen," he added.
Paula turned away, and covered her eyes. Suddenly, in the center of the cauldron a flame of blue fire formed and Eydelme said:
-O cauldron, wise cauldron, show me the terrible truth of Rodrigo Barboza's shadow. Give me to know his shame. Ohm Giuti, vego archio Mou jot," he said. Then the blue flame disappeared and only a hand mirror, round with carved wooden details around it, and a small handle to hold it, remained in the cauldron. Eydelme grabbed the mirror and smeared a blood-red leaf on the mirror. Instantly, out popped Paula's dad, but it wasn't a photograph in the mirror, no, it was Paula's dad, but he was in motion. He was walking strangely through the house.
-Now, girl, you can turn around," said Eydelme.
And Paula turned around. She saw in the mirror her father, drunk. She already knew him drunk, as well as if she had seen him drunk countless times, and that was because he had been.
-He's drunk," Paula said.
And suddenly Paula's father pulled a gun out of a closet, that was what he had been looking for so eagerly. Paula's mouth dropped open, why did her dad take that gun whose only purpose was to take lives? Suddenly the answer flashed before her eyes like never before. Rodrigo went to the living room with the gun behind him, and in the living room was his wife, Paula's mother.
-No, please, Rodrigo, stop," said Paula's mother, her face red and her eyes full of tears. Her arms were bruised. Paula's mother, seeing that Rodrigo was not thinking of stopping, and that he was out of his mind due to the alcohol in his blood. She picked up a vase, with the sole purpose of throwing it at him. Before she could defend herself, Rodrigo pulled out the gun and pointed it at Paula's mom in the head. A moment later, he had shot her, killing her instantly. The mirror shattered and fell into dozens of pieces.
-Well, child, you saw the terrible truth. No wonder, when I saw your father's eyes, I saw the eyes of a dark demon," said Eydelme, who turned to look at Paula, whose face was in her hands, sobbing.
-I'll make you a soothing tea, wait in the living room," said the psychic.
Paula looked for a seat. Once Eydelme arrived with the tea and she began to drink it, she said to him:
-How deep down, I knew it, I knew he had done that. He always went crazy when he drank and, as a result, he hit mom, and if she wasn't there, he did it to me," Paula mumbled rather sadly.
-Did he ever do anything else to you, ever touch you? -asked Eydelme.
-No, he never touched me, he never tried to do more than hit me," she said.
-You know something, child, if you want you can stay, I'm alone all the time, and I have no one to keep me company. You don't have to go back to that monster's house. You're never going back, stay in this house, but you have to take care of the cleaning and the meals, because if there's one thing I'm stubborn about, it's cooking," said Eydelme.
-Yes, I do, thank you very much, ma'am, I promise I won't fail you," she answered, while wiping her tears.
-But, you must promise one thing; that you will never, no matter how much you wish, no matter how much you want to, never ever, seek revenge against your father for what he did to your mother," the psychic told her.
-No, Eydelme, I will never seek revenge, but I will report him to the police," said Paula.
-Well... if you want to do it, I don't object. Go to the police station. If you hesitate to do it, it's better not to do it," said the old woman.
-Yes, I do want to do it," Paula answered, "he deserves it," she added.
-Then go," said Eydelme.
-No, I won't do it now, I don't feel very well, not with what I've just seen. I'll go tomorrow," he said.
-As you wish," muttered the psychic, as she picked up everything she had used to do the session.
