Ch. 7 - Full moon

Sunday, what a beautiful and perfect day. The weather is cold and rain is mostly inevitable. My favorite kind of day to stay in and watch movies with the others.

Except today is a full moon.

The wolves would go out to the not-so-nearby forest so they could shift, and I'd have my monthly talk with the other metas about my situation here.

Wonderful.

Apart from that, my mind was on the number the vampire from yesterday gave me.

How did they know that I was at least a little bit of a vampire? What did they mean by "if I need more juice"?

I should probably give it more thought, but I'll leave it to tomorrow. My day already is as busy and stressful as it could get.

"I just don't want to leave her here by herself when that crazy vampire from yesterday was eyeing her like that!" Casey's voice was more of a whisper, but I could hear it anyway for some weird reason.

Was my hearing getting better?

"We shouldn't talk about this stuff here," Avery pointed, but Mason quickly intervened.

"It's Sunday. Hunter won't be up for the next three hours."

"Well, then how would you explain a giant wolf in her dorm when the moon gets in position?" The alpha scolded her. "Super realistic special effects? Or maybe you decided to adopt a really large dog and when it magically appeared you had to go somewhere else to do something?"

I heard a sigh from all of them.

"We don't want Hunt to be alone either, but what can we do? Plus, I doubt the vampire would show up here, I don't think they were staring at her with anything but curiosity."

"You do have a point, babe," Mason backed him up. "It was probably because it's not common to see a human with four other werewolves."

"Fine, but maybe I'll ask Dana to keep an eye on her. I may not like her, but I know that she'd rather Hunter to be safe," Casey said and I could practically hear her pout.

The voices vanished, so they probably stopped talking, and even if they didn't I decided I'd take a nap since I was supposed to be sleeping.

The others left an hour ago with the excuse they had projects or something like that to work on, but I already knew where they were heading.

And me? I had my own task to complete.

After five minutes, no more no less, I got the call from the head of the family himself, Silas Soilé.

"Hunter, begin the report," he said dryly after I picked up.

I resisted the urge to make a stupid remark like "Well, good evening to you too", cause the last time I did that, it didn't end well.

Instead, I just started talking about what he wanted to hear.

The sooner we were done, the better it would be.

"Again, things aren't going as expected."

"How so?"

"There are more supernaturals around, it's dangerous."

"I heard a rumor about a new werewolf moving to your college. Is that true?"

He knew it was, but questions like those were to see if I was still honest.

"Yes, it is."

"There's also a new pack in the same town you are. If we're lucky, these two packs will meet tonight and make our job easier," he laughed in a low, sadistic tone.
