If Sun Tzu was here, he wouldn't be proud at all.
I didn't have a plan. I was just a simple girl with one arm who was limping around with a scooter and a portal key.
I knew who my enemy was, and it didn't help at all. Renna didn't have any apparent weaknesses, nor did I know what to do. The only thing I knew was that I wasn't feeling good about the whole situation, and a part inside of me was begging me to do something.
As much as it would upset the others, my gut was never wrong, and that was something I could rely on.
Getting out of the headboard wasn't too hard. My left forearm was a bit bruised because of the way I forced it out, but that was just a fraction of how my body was hurting. That poison couldn't be healed with "simple blood", and I knew it would be a pain in my ass to deal with.
After getting out, being closer to the scooter was enough for the enchantment on the rope and glove to fade off.
Saria's mansion was empty, so all I had to do now was teleport to Disneyland like I had done the other day.
But should I really do it?
Hell, the worst-case scenario is that when I get there they'll already be done with her and Casey will be upset again cause I got out, but it'd be worth it if I knew they were safe.
Also, was my idea of bringing the scooter a good one? Only God knew.
During our training, Saria explained how the stone was supposed to work now with her spell. The one who held it had the upper hand of control, which meant that if I was the one with it I could drain close by magic and also liberate it, so as long as it was with me, everything would be fine.
The scooter was pretty much all I could do to help since fighting was out of the question.
The others were gone for a good 20 minutes now, so if they weren't done with the fight, having the scooter there would at least prevent the whole world from burning up and exploding.
As I paced around, considering my decision, I passed by a mirror and checked my hair out. It was all red, except for a single lock, which meant that if I drink supernatural blood one more time, I'll be nothing but a violent shell of myself.
Mental note to not do that.
I was as ready as I'd ever be, so after holding the scooter with my legs and crook of my arm, I held the portal key that teleported me away without me even thinking about where I had to go.
The same rabbit hole got into my sight and surroundings, and soon the trip was coming to an end, except that this time I didn't fall down immediately.
It was like I was suspended in the tunnel, but I could still see the outside of it.
A really powerful figure, probably Renna, was floating around with her hands rising. Around her, all of my friends were standing still, and Lauren and Liliana were guarding them. Even Salem seemed powerless when facing the other grandwitch.
The crossbow plan probably didn't work, and they were all about to die or be turned into undead puppets.
But what I found most interesting was that, even if no one could see me, it felt like Salem's eyes were piercing right through mine, and I felt, heard, someone talking in my head.
"You're finally here," Salem's voice rang. "We don't have much time. You have to use the real stone to get the magic from her, Hunter. It has to be immediate and direct. You have to face her with the same power she has."
And when she said that, I knew exactly what I had to do.
"I confess that I knew the crossbow wouldn't work, but I had to try, and I knew that you were my backup. I saw it all unraveling, Hunter, and you have to do this. I'll teleport you close enough to her."
I was torn between letting humanity and my friends die, myself included, or giving myself into the dark vampire side and giving it all a shot.
I smirked ironically to myself. If I was dead then at least I wouldn't have to deal with the others being upset, or be concerned about a bigger threat cause this was the bigger threat I couldn't leave behind.
I mentally agreed, but I knew that regardless of my answer, everything would happen either way.
As Salem had said, she somehow teleported me right behind Renna, and when the other grandwitch realized my presence, it was too late.
My fangs were already deep into her neck.
She gasped and tried to push me, but I didn't move. It was just me holding onto the scooter while biting her like a dog with a chewing toy, drinking as much blood as I could, and after a few gulps I felt my mind wandering and a single lock of hair burning up with my eyes.
As Renna cast a spell to repel me, I flew a few feet but balanced myself, or a part of me did. Again, all I could do was watch from inside.
My senses were dull. I couldn't hear anything as if I was underwater, and my vision was a single horizontal line with black dots. My eyes wandered around and I saw the others with wide eyes and open mouths, and when their eyes changed focus, so did mine.
Lauren was approaching me, and instead of dodging, I waited for her to get close enough and swang my left arm with the scooter as hard as I could while holding into its handlebar stem.
To say her head exploded was an understatement.
And, this time, she didn't recover. Not because her brains were all over the place but because I had drained the magic that was keeping her body functioning.
The next one was Liliana. I deflected her sword with the scooter, even if all I could see was just some blurred motion, and got a grip on her throat. My nails sunk into her as she moved around to escape, but I was already using the stone's power to drain her magic by keeping my foot supported on the scooter.
When I dropped her down and smashed her trachea with my foot, she was a long way from having another chance to come back to life.
The only things I felt were a few drops of blood on my face and my "vampire self" humming a cheerful tune as I turned around to face Renna.
She seemed surprised, but also not quite. As she lifted her hands to cast a spell, I got the scooter back and rushed to her side, so fast that it would seem like I was teleporting.
At that point, I knew that I had lost myself completely, if not by the cruel gory way I was acting, by the fact that I had broken Casey's scooter to separate the stem from the deck and stabbed the grandwitch with them, first the deck and then the stem, which I was holding with my mouth.
I heard her gasp, and the cast of her spell got interrupted. I was getting the magic from her.
While she was succumbing and trying to take the scooter from her body - which only seemed to be making her weaker -, I turned around and faced the other supernaturals who were now free from her spell.
And I wanted them dead.
