Female!Reader X Tony Stark

I cannot remember how we met but from what little memory did exist it was all a blurry vision. A ball hosted by a family of great respect, The Starksons, a family of three, a son, an heir. No one of the ton could throw a ball quite like Lady Starksons. She would throw balls of gold and black, lace, roses painted black, the ceiling decor, the grandest chandelier one could find in all of England. And finally the heir, Anthony, or to others known as Tony Starksons. A man of great intelligence, a man who I had fallen for.

I was the daughter of the viscount Earlington, I was of marriage age now, my mother had insisted I was to partake in my first season. It was of belief that mt mother was to succeed in finding a match for me. Since within my eldest sister's first season, my mother had managed to find my sister a wealthy match and marry her off before the season had finished. It helped my sister was of a beauty that truly captured a room. My mother wasted no time when the season begun, I was off to buy the finest shoes, jewellery and to pay the dressmaker a visit.

Back to the ball, I stood by my mother's side as she and other women hoping to marry off their daughters began conversing and gossiping with one another. I glanced across the ballroom and saw him enter, laughing heartily with his friends, I saw Tony. His eyes met mine and for a moment I could swear he was smiling at me, I blushed and looked away as my mother caught onto who I was gazing at. She smiled and continued talking as I walked away, I watched as the attendants of the ball danced with one another, the women's dresses were so graceful and the men, their movements so quick, almost like a fox. I was enchanted, the music sounded faint and the sound of voices had disappeared. I was lost in a world of my own.

I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned and saw Anthony standing before me. "Mister Starksons, I feel honoured to be in your presence." The man smiled at me.

"It's lovely to have a chance of talking with you Miss Earlington, and please call me Tony." I smiled at Tony, we stood in silence as I continued to watch the dancing. "Do you happen to know how to dance Miss Earlington?"

I nodded. "Yes I do, my brother was my dancing partner at home, I do hope his toes are feeling all right now, and please call me Y/N." Tony extended a hand to me, smiling as he awaited an answer from me. I gracefully took his hand and followed Tony to the ballroom dance floor, we began dancing, his hand on my lower back, our hands enter-twined as he stared into my eyes. I couldn't help but feel the connection between us both, I couldn't help but feel that I was dancing with a person I was meant to love.

The night played out smoothly, I began to lose track of the hours we spent dancing, I was the only one Tony had danced with and I couldn't have felt more honoured. The morning after I waited in my drawing room with my mother and eldest sister and my brother. My mother began to work on her stitching skills, my sister sat at the piano and my brother sat by the window reading as I nervously waited for anyone just anyone to walk through the door and hopefully be Tony or at least someone that could make me happy into my elder years.

"He'll come my darling." My mother gave me a reassuring smile, I couldn't help but wonder if everything I had thought was just stupid nothings.

Tony's POV

I sat in the gentlemen's club surrounded by my friends, we all drunk and talked with one another, 2 out of 5 of us were married, myself not included. I was lost in thought, I couldn't stop thinking of the Earlington girl I danced with all night long. It was a night I hadn't experienced before. I had danced with many girls before but something about her just pulled me in and I wanted more, she was a feeling I had never known.

"Starksons, what's on your man?" I looked up and realised I had been smiling the whole time. All the men around me looked at me in amusement.

"Oh um nothing." All of them laughed as I realised I would never escape this mockery that would forever follow me.

You thinking of that Earlington girl? My brother knows her brother, good family they are, beautiful daughters and a nice boy her brother makes." Was it fate? Or was it just plain stupidity clouding my judgement.

"Go, find her man its painful to watch you." I blushed as I said my goodbyes to my men. I quickly set off on foot, buying a fragrant bunch of flowers. I looked up and down the streets, looking for any sign of the Earlington household.

Y/N POV

I had given up waiting, I was right, it was all just stupid nothings. I sat by the front window and read my book. I should've known better.
"Miss y/n, a gentleman calls for you, shall I bring him through." My mother stood and nodded shooing the doorman away. I stood up and looked out the window, that's when I saw him.
His hair a little mess, flowers in his hand and a nervous smile on his face.
I looked from the window and smiled to myself. Could I be wrong?
