chapter twelve ♡

   It's basically been two days. It's close to twenty four hours. Lu Yue still hasn't eaten anything. It's 3:00 o'clock in the morning and Lu Yue is sleeping on Luo Mei's stomach.
   At 3:30 Luo Mei finally wakes up. She sees Lu Yue's laying on her stomach, sleeping. She starts stroke his hair.
Luo Mei- (says in her head) He stayed by my side?
   He starts to wake up. He does and lifts his head to check on Luo Mei.
Lu Yue- You woke up. (she sets her hand on his cheek & he puts his hand on hers) You woke up. (he eyes start to tear up. they go red & he's shaking a little) You woke up.
Luo Mei- Yes. I could never leave you. I told you you're stuck with me.
Lu Yue- I love you so much.
Luo Mei- (she sits up & wipes his tears) Don't cry. It's okay. I'm here. I'm okay.
Lu Yue- (he wraps his arms around her) I just can't lose you again.
Luo Mei- I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. Lu Yue? (she's kind of hiding that she's in pain because she doesn't want to upset him)
Lu Yue- Yes.
Luo Mei- I had no choice to broke up with you.
Lu Yue- (he lets go of her & looks at her) What?
Luo Mei- Yang Lian tried to persuade me to tell you. Getting in the car accident woke me up. I'll lose you either way. It just hurts too much to keep it from you.
He just let's her talk.
Luo Mei- We were supposed to go to university together but my father found out about us. He told me to broke up with you or else he would do something to you. I couldn't let that happen so I did. I didn't want to. Doing it hurt so much. It was a regret. Instead of going to university he arranged me to go to France but not just to go to Ballet school. He also set me there so I could get married.
Lu Yue- My brother knew about all of this?
Luo Mei- Yes. I thought he should know. I wasn't dating him.
Lu Yue- You didn't get married, did you?
Luo Mei- No. I never showed up on my wedding day. I couldn't marry someone I don't love and barely even know. My father didn't know and never found out.
Lu Yue- That's a relief.
Luo Mei- What? Why are you saying that? I lost you, didn't I?
Lu Yue- No. Don't talk nonsense. You haven't lost me. I'm still here. All I wanted was the truth and you gave me that. How could I leave you like this. Especially what happened. Don't you remember me saying I couldn't lose you again.
Luo Mei- Really?
Lu Yue- Yes. Baby, you're stuck with me.
Luo Mei- Are you sure?
Lu Yue- Yes. Stop that.
   In that moment they gaze into each other's eyes and it happens. Their lips touch. They fall down on the bed while kissing. After a while of kissing, they stop and touch foreheads. Lu Yue is laying next to her as well.
Luo Mei- You're the best.
Lu Yue- Oh yeah. Don't ever say you lost me. Don't talk nonsense like that. Promise me?
Luo Mei- (she sets her head back a little to look at him) I promise. (tears start to come down her cheeks)
Lu Yue- (he reaches out his hand & wipes her tears) Hey, there's no need for tears.
Luo Mei- These are happy tears. You're still mine.
Lu Yue- I've always been yours. You're my heart.
Luo Mei- You're my heart.... When I was in France. Everyday I would call Yang Lian and complain to her about how much I miss you.
Lu Yue- Was Yang Lian the one that persuaded you to come back?
Luo Mei- Yes.
Lu Yue- Did your father ever check up on you?
Luo Mei- Did he ever come to France to see me? No. I feel like he doesn't really care about me.
He sets his head on her shoulder.
Luo Mei- Yue Yue, are you listening?
Lu Yue- Uh-huh. (he closes his eyes)
Luo Mei- Yue Yue?
   She sees that he fell back asleep on her shoulder. She ends up falling asleep as well.
   It's now close to 10:00 o'clock in the morning. Lu Yue wakes up first. He sits back in the chair.  He thinks that what happened was a dream.  Then Luo Mei opens her eyes and sits up. She sees that Lu Yue's head is down.
Luo Mei- Lu Yue...
Lu Yue- (he lifts his head) Huh?
Luo Mei- Why did you move?
Lu Yue- (he sits on the bed) So it wasn't a dream? You really did wake up?
Luo Mei- It wasn't a dream. I really woke up. I would never leave my heart. This time I'm staying.
He goes to hug her.
Luo Mei- Ow.
Lu Yue- Why are you saying that? I guess I didn't think if you might be in pain.
Luo Mei- I didn't say anything before because I know you hate it when I'm in pain. I just can't hold it in anymore.
Lu Yue- I'm sorry. The one who did this should pay. No one hurts my girl.
Luo Mei- Lu Yue, it's okay. Handsome?
Lu Yue- Mhmm?
Luo Mei- Where's my bag? I need something in there.
Lu Yue- (he hands her bag to her) Here.
Luo Mei- (she takes it) I need to go to the bathroom.
She starts to get up but he stops her.
Lu Yue- Wait. Let me help you.
Luo Mei- Lu Yue, I can do it.
   He helps her up anyways. Her left leg starts to hurt when she stands. She can feel it's broken, which she has a cast on it.
Lu Yue- (he looks at her) Baby, what's wrong?
Luo Mei- It hurts.
Lu Yue- I wish I could do something about that.
   He puts her arm over his shoulder and walks her to the bathroom. She holds onto the wall.
Luo Mei- Lu Yue, I got it from here. Wait for me.
Lu Yue- Okay. (he kisses her on the side of the forehead)
   Then he walks out. He closes the door and waits for her. When she's done she ends up having trouble pulling up her pants and then falls on her stomach.
Luo Mei- (she yells for Lu Yue in pain) Lu Yue!
   He hears something and her yell for him, and goes straight into the bathroom. He walks in and sees her on the floor and instantly goes to help her up. He holds her up while she pulls up her pants.
Lu Yue- You fell trying to pull them up?
Luo Mei- I thought I could do it. Without any support.
   He instantly lifts her up, and she wraps her arms around his neck.
Luo Mei- Thank you.
Lu Yue- It's my job, right?
She puts her forehead to his.
Luo Mei- I have the best boyfriend ever.
Lu Yue- I know.
Luo Mei- (looks back at him) That's mine.
   He carries her out and back on the bed. He tries to sit down on the bed but she grabs onto his shirt and pulls him to her.
Luo Mei- Baby boy.
Lu Yue- What do you want, princess?
Luo Mei- You. I want you to lay with me.
Lu Yue- Okay.
He lays next to her.
Luo Mei- Did you eat anything yesterday? You must of never left my side.
Lu Yue- I never left your side for anything.
Luo Mei- Lu Yue, can I see your phone?
Lu Yue- Why?
Luo Mei- It's in your pocket, right?
   She reaches for it and dials Yu Ming's number. She puts the phone to her ear.
Lu Yue- Who are you calling?
The number rings and there's an answer.
God Ming- Hello.
Luo Mei- God Ming, it's me.
God Ming- Luo Mei, you woke up.
Luo Mei- Yes.
God Ming- I knew you would. I told Lu Yue that you're strong and you'll fight through it and you did.
Luo Mei- Yeah. Can you do me a favor?
God Ming- Of course. Anything.
Luo Mei- Can you bring Lu Yue food? It doesn't matter what. Just bring him some.
God Ming- Okay. I'm on it. I'll be there soon.
Luo Mei- Thank you.
God Ming- It's no trouble.
She hangs up after that, and gives Lu Yue back his phone.
Lu Yue- Why did you do that?
Luo Mei- Because you need to eat something. When was the last time you ate? Yesterday morning?
Lu Yue- That's correct.
Luo Mei- Why didn't you tell me?
Lu Yue- It just didn't come up. I'm sorry.
Luo Mei- No, it's okay. Do you remember? (she grabs onto his shirt & pulls him close to where their lips can touch)
   He goes straight for it and kisses her. He goes to touch her waist and she flinches. He moves away from her lips and pulls his hand away.
Luo Mei- Lu Yue?!
Lu Yue- I'm sorry.
Luo Mei- What are you saying sorry for?
Lu Yue- That hurt putting my hand on you?
Luo Mei- Not really.
Lu Yue- But you flinched.
Luo Mei- It just startled me. It might feel nice with your hand there.
   He lifts her shirt a little and pulls down her pants down a little to put his hand where she's having pain.
Lu Yue- You want that? (he moves his hand around where she's having pain)
Luo Mei- Yes.
   He continues to do that and lowers his head down to kiss her. While they still kiss Yu Ming soon arrives at the hospital. The doctor informs him what the car accident did to Luo Mei.
   Then he goes to the room. He knocks on the door before walking in. Lu Yue hurries up and pulls away from Luo Mei and sits back down in the chair.
God Ming- (he looks at them) Was I interrupting something? (he hands the clear bag of steamed buns to Lu Yue) Here. These are for you.
Lu Yue- Thanks. (he takes the bag & then starts to eat one)
Luo Mei- I have to pay you back for them.
God Ming- No, it's okay.
Luo Mei- I don't mind. (looks to Lu Yue) Lu Yue, I left my bag in the bathroom. Can you get it for me?
Lu Yue- Yeah.
   He gets up and goes to the bathroom to get Luo Mei's bag. He comes back and hands Luo Mei her bag before he goes back to what he was doing before.
Luo Mei- Thank you... (she takes some yuan bills out of her bag) Here. (she hands them out to Yu Ming)
God Ming- No, please. I don't want it.
Lu Yue- (takes the yuan bills out of her hand) I'll take it.
God Ming- Since I'm here. We should talk about the photoshoot that's coming up soon.
Luo Mei- I'm going, right?
God Ming- Yes. But we're thinking about rescheduling.
Luo Mei- No.
Lu Yue- (he doesn't care that God Ming is there & says it) Baby, but you're injured. You fell earlier.
God Ming- What? She fell?
Luo Mei- I hate feeling helpless. Feeling I can't do it. (Lu Yue goes to her) You don't have to reschedule just because I'm injured. I can do it.
Lu Yue- Baby?!
Luo Mei- I don't want to feel like I can't do anything. (looks to Yu Ming) God Ming, the photoshoot won't be rescheduled.
Lu Yue- Luo Mei.
Luo Mei- Lu Yue, it will be okay.
God Ming- The doctor informed me what the car accident did to you. A broken leg and some cracked ribs.
Luo Mei- Is that why I'm in pain?
Lu Yue- (grabs onto Luo Mei's hand) I wish you weren't in pain. (his eyes get a little watery)
Luo Mei- Lu Yue, I know.
   He goes closer to her and buries his head on Luo Mei's shoulder.
God Ming- I did interrupt something. I'm leaving first.
He leaves the room.
