chapter eighteen ♡

When the match is over, they head back to the base. They won all three rounds of the game. When they get back they all head inside. God Ming stops Lu Yue.
God Ming- You should go check on her.
Lu Yue- You know I can't.
He walks off. A while later Luo Mei wakes up saying Lu Yue's name. She really wants him to get her mind off the pain. She tries calling him on her phone but he doesn't answer. He answers the second time she calls.
Luo Mei- What is wrong with you? How can you not hear your phone?
Lu Yue- Why are you calling me? You should be resting.
Luo Mei- I need your cold hand on my ribs.
Lu Yue- Luo Mei, I can't be around you.
Luo Mei- Ughh, Lu Yue?! You're being a bad boy right now and it's not making you handsome.
Lu Yue- Don't you dare do this right now.
Luo Mei- Forget it. It's not tempting you. I'm hanging up.
She hangs up on him and after that she calls God Ming on her phone in tears.
God Ming- Hello.
Luo Mei- God Ming, he won't...
God Ming- You want me to try and get him to come to you?
Luo Mei- I need him to... to... to... (she can't talk because she's crying too much)
God Ming- It's okay you can tell me.
Luo Mei- I-I want him to... put his cold h-hand on my ribs to use as a-a ice pack. He won't come. He... told m-me to get more... rest so I t-told him to... forget it and... I hung up on... on him.
God Ming- You don't want him to forget it. Here, I'll put him on. (he talks to Lu Yue) Talk to Luo Mei. She's in tears because of you.
Lu Yue- Let me have the phone. I'll talk to her.
He takes God Ming's phone and walks out to the balcony to talk to Luo Mei privately.
Lu Yue- Baby, don't cry.
Luo Mei- But... I want you to come to me. I want you to get my mind off the pain. Since you're just going to listen to me. I'm going to get more rest.
She hangs up and Lu Yue gives God Ming his phone back.
God Ming- Lu Yue, what are you going to do?
Lu Yue walks inside. He goes in the kitchen to get one of his hands cold and also grabs a ice pack. He then heads up to Luo Mei's room.
   Lu Yue sees that Luo Mei is sleeping. He goes to sit on her bed on her right side. He reaches out his hand, puts it under her shirt, and sets it where her ribs are.
Luo Mei- (she wakes up & sees Lu Yue) Yue Yue. (she sees where his hand is) Lu Yue.
Lu Yue- It's okay, baby. I'm here.
Luo Mei- Ooh, your hand is really cold.
Lu Yue- I know its what you wanted.
Luo Mei- Please come closer?
Lu Yue- I thought you were mad at me.
Luo Mei- No. But maybe I should be. You wouldn't let me tease you.
Lu Yue- I miss you.
Luo Mei- You've been a very bad boy today. It's not even cute. It was annoying.
Lu Yue- You're going to regret you said that.
Luo Mei- Oooh, what is handsome going to do to me?
Lu Yue- I'm going to get you back for all the things you said to me today.
Luo Mei- Oooh. Go on then.
He goes closer to her to where their lips can almost touch.
Luo Mei- I'll never stop teasing you.
Lu Yue- Ughh.
He bites his lip and goes to kiss her. After a few kisses he pulls away. He moves his hand and puts the ice pack on her.
Luo Mei- No. What are you doing?
Lu Yue- You're too irresistible. I'm way too tempted right now. I need to leave.
Luo Mei- No. Please stay. Kiss me more. It gets my mind off the pain to where it's bearable.
Lu Yue- I can't. I shouldn't.
Luo Mei- Stubborn. (she says low) Fine. Forget it. Come back to me when I'm healed.
Lu Yue- I don't want to. Really. I want to be with you despite the pain you're in but...
Luo Mei- I guess it really isn't good for you to be around me right now.
Lu Yue- Are you not going to talk to me anymore?
Luo Mei- I don't know. (she looks away from him)
Lu Yue- Please. I don't know if I can take it if you don't talk to me anymore until you're healed. Princess, are you mad at me?
She won't look at him.
Lu Yue- Okay. I'll stay and sleep next to you tonight. That's what you want, right?
Luo Mei- Baby boy. (she starts to let out tears without looking at him)
Lu Yue- I hated that I put you in tears. I don't want to be the reason now.
Luo Mei- (she looks at him) I don't like when you pull me away.
Lu Yue- I won't pull away right now.
Luo Mei- You're not being cute right now. Mhmm. Can I?
Lu Yue- You don't have to ask to tease me. (he goes to kiss her on the forehead)
Luo Mei- Then you're definitely not being cute right now.
Lu Yue- Say it again.
Luo Mei- You remember the first time I teased you?
Lu Yue- You said Chocolate Chip was cuter than me.
Luo Mei- Kittens are so cute.
Lu Yue- What about me? (he goes closer to her)
Luo Mei- Yes. Very.
Lu Yue- (he smiles at her response) That's when we had our first kiss.
Luo Mei- (she sets her hand on his cheek) Did I embarrass you when everyone was listening in on the story I was telling Tong Yao about why I gave Chocolate Chip his name? I meant to only tell Tong Yao. I'm sorry if I did.
Lu Yue- It's okay. I don't care if they know.
Luo Mei- Really? (she strokes his side-burn)
Lu Yue- I know you weren't trying to embarrass me. I love it when you touch my hair. (he closes his eyes for a sec)
Luo Mei- I can only touch it.
Lu Yue- That's right.
Luo Mei- Lu Yue, is your hand still cold?
Lu Yue- Probably not. I put the ice pack on you. (she grabs his hand & holds it)
Luo Mei- I don't want the ice pack. (she moves the ice pack & puts his hand there) This is better. It feels... It feels...
They start to gaze into each other's eyes.
Lu Yue- Your gaze doesn't lie.
Luo Mei- Yours doesn't either, cutie.
He lays their hands on the bed and leans in closer to kiss her. She lays her hand on his left cheek. He pulls away again after a few kisses.
Lu Yue- I'm sorry.
Luo Mei- It's okay. Just lay next to me.
Lu Yue- Okay.
He lays down next to her and keeps his hand on her ribs.
He stays there till night. She has a feeling he won't sleep next to her the whole night and he doesn't. When she wakes up in the morning he's not there.
The same morning she gets checked in by God Ming. He knew that Lu Yue almost spend the whole night in her room because he went to check on them before he went to sleep.
God Ming- Lu Yue didn't stay the whole night?
Luo Mei- God Ming, how did you know?
God Ming- I checked in on you both before I went to sleep.
Luo Mei- He's being stubborn. What if he's still like this if my ribs heal faster than my leg?
God Ming- Don't you know how to get his attention?
Luo Mei- Yes, but he's starting to refuse it. I don't want him to pull away from me too far.
Lu Yue is standing outside Luo Mei's room. He's been listening in since after God Ming walked in. Tears are starting to come down his cheeks and his eyes are a bit red. Luo Mei starts to talk to Yu Ming more.
Luo Mei- I can't lose him. Not again. Not like this. He said he wasn't breaking up with me.
God Ming- Well, then you just have to wait until he comes around. He loves you.
Lu Yue says to himself: "I do. I just can't stand it when your in pain, princess. Especially like this."
Luo Mei- I miss him so much. He better.
God Ming- I'm sure he will. Get some more rest, okay? I'm leaving.
Luo Mei- Okay.
Lu Yue walks away before God Ming could see him when he walks out.
