Animal Class: Mammal
Diet: Carnivorous
Note: These Creatures are Extinct in the Wild
Due to the fact that Wargs are extinct in the wild, they can only be found in zoos and wildlife sanctuaries or as pets.
Like the previous fact suggests, Wargs are intelligent enough to be trained and keep as pets ( However, they require more food and space than the average Dog or Cat), but are primarily used as guard animals or to pull things like sleds.
They evolved at around the same time as their now extinct relative, the Dire Wolf and competed with them for food. Despite their larger size, they struggled to compete with the Dire Wolf and this could be because of the fact that Dire Wolves traveled in larger packs.
Multiple scientists agree that Wargs should have gone extinct at the end of the last Ice Age when all the large prey animals like Mastodons and Giant Ground Sloths went extinct and those scientists are still unclear as to how they managed to survive this long.
Naturally lived in North America, Europe, and the more Northern parts of Asia, but can now be found living in captivity on almost every continent.
They live in small packs of around 5 to 12 that are led by an alpha. The gender of the alpha varies from pack to pack and is determined by both strength and intelligence.
Ancient weapons have been found made out of Warg teeth and appear to have been very lethal when they were still in use.
Wargs are very fearful of Werewolves and Rougarou and will go out of their way to avoid them. They will even avoid a Werewolf that is in human form. ( This is considered strange because they avoid Bitten Werewolves that are unable to change to Wolf form at will and thus would pose almost no threat to a Warg)
The average lifespan of a Warg is only around 10 years, which is a shorter lifespan when compared to other large canines like Wolves and some breeds of Dogs.
Extra Fun Fact: Wargs are large enough for Humans to ride and annual Warg races are held in places like the Yukon and Alaska.
