Animal Class: Bird

Diet: Carnivorous

The stories of them being able to create storms and control lightning are true, but they usually don't do it because it takes a lot of energy out of them.

Travel alone until they mate and then they travel with their mate until one of them dies.

Thunderbirds were one of the bird species that the Wright Brothers studied when they were trying to create the first airplane.

They like to hunt during hurricanes, tornados, and other big storms because if offers them more cover for their hunting.

Lay between 2 to 5 eggs that are taken care of by both parents when they hatch.

It takes about two to three years for young Thunderbirds to master the ability to fly.

Naturally live in the United States and Canada, but have been known to fly to countries like Mexico, Russia, and Mongolia.

They are currently the largest living species of bird and some scientists believe that they may be the evolved descendants of the giant bird Teratornis that lived during the Pleistocene era.

Prey on Deer, Elk, Moose, Buffalo, Bighorn Sheep, Whales, Bears, Wolves, and other large mammals.

They nest up so high in the mountains that their eggs and young are protected from almost any predator. ( Aside from the occasional Dragon, adult Thunderbirds have almost no natural predators and Gremlins have been known to raid nests for eggs)

Extra Fun Fact: Many meteorologists have developed an extreme hatred for Thunderbirds due to their ability to change the weather almost instantly.
