Wendigo

The first Wendigo came into existence centuries ago when two Native American brothers got lost in uncharted mountain territory while hunting. After a few days, they ran out of supplies and hunger drove the younger brother to kill and eat his older brother. He eventually found his way out of the mountains and overwhelmed by shame and grief, asked what he thought was a Witch for help. However, it turned out to be a Dark Witch that was helping him and instead of helping him, she turned him into a Wendigo.

Wendigo are the most ravenous creatures on the planet and are always starving. They even resort to feeding on parts of themselves.

Like it was said in the last fact, Wendigo will eat parts of themselves in order to survive. They will eat until there is not enough body left for them to survive. Wendigo continue to be low in number because of this trait.

Like Werewolves, Vampires, and Rougarou, a Wendigo can turn another creature into a Wendigo by biting it. However, unlike the other aforementioned creatures, where they can only turn certain other creatures, anything can be turned into a Wendigo.

The transformation into a Wendigo is said to be one of the most painful experiences( both physically and mentally) that any creature can go through. The pain is so severe that most bite victims end up committing suicide before the transformation is complete. ( The transformation starts a few hours after the victim is bitten, but it can take up to 4 months before the transformation is complete)

Wendigo have the ability to mimic voices and they do it in order to lure in prey. However, one can easily tell if a voice is coming from a Wendigo because it will sound slightly distorted and will have no emotion to it.

The only thing that Wendigo feel is hunger. They do not feel the pain of wounds that have been inflicted on them( They can still die from these wounds, but the wounds never slow them down) nor do they feel happiness, sadness, anger, love, hate, regret, empathy, or any other emotion and this is what makes them one of the most dangerous species on the planet.

The original Wendigo was from the United States and because other Wendigo are created via bites, They can only be found in the mainland Americas.

Wendigo are very feared across the animal kingdom and if a creature is strong enough they will go out of their way to kill a Wendigo on sight.

The only cure for a Wendigo bite is to kill the Wendigo that was responsible for the bite before the victim completely turns.

The average lifespan of a Wendigo is still unclear because the majority of them end up killing themselves via self cannibalism, but it is believed that they could live for centuries.

When first turned, a Wendigo can move at a very fast speed, but as their time as a Wendigo goes on, the slower they become.

Extra Fun Fact: In recent years, many hunters have been setting traps in places with known Wendigo activity. They study the movements of that Wendigo and set land mines in the areas that it primarily frequents in hopes of blowing it up. These traps have done a very successful job so far.
