Animal Class: Dinosaur
Diet: Omnivorous
Originally thought to be a single individual known as the Mokele-Mbembe, Congotitans are actually the last surviving species of Sauropods, a member of the Titanosauria class of the Sauropod family to be specific.
Like their name suggests, Congotitans can be found in the Congo Basin region of Africa with the largest populations being found in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of the Congo, and the Central African Republic.
Research is still being done on founding out how they managed to survive the K-T extinction event.
Not only are they the last surviving Sauropod species, they, being omnivores, are also the only species of Sauropod known to eat meat.
The spikes spread throughout their body have venom in them as a form of protection from predators. However, due to the fact that an adult Congotitan has almost no natural predators in their native rage, the venom gets less and less potent the older they get.
Congotitans spend most of their day in the water and actually have the ability to breathe underwater.
While they are almost exclusively a solitary animal, the existence of small herds has been documented. However, these herds only numbered in the single digits.
Despite having the ability to eat it, Congotitans are extremely picky when it comes to the type of meat they eat with most of them choosing only to eat Fish or Insects.
They lay their eggs, in clutches of around 30 to 40, deep in the jungle and then abandon them. The young are completely independent from birth and will stay deep in the jungle until they reach adolescence.
Extra Fun Fact: They were originally going to be named Congosaurus before it was realized that the name was already taken by a species of Dyrosaurid.
