Widely considered to be one of the most aggressive and dangerous creatures to ever exist, many fear Crawlers just as much as they fear Wendigo.
Crawlers evolved from populations of Humans that moved/became trapped underground and adapted to the drastically different environment.
As it was stated in the previous fact, Crawlers live underground in caves with large tunnel systems. They are extremely territorial and will go to extreme lengths to protect their caves from intruders. Nothing that has entered a Crawler den has ever come back out.
They are completely blind and rely on their sense of hearing and smell to get around. Crawlers are said to have one of the strongest senses of smell and hearing in the Animal Kingdom.
Crawlers venture above ground at night in order to hunt. They will sometimes use teamwork to hunt, but are perfectly capable of hunting alone, easily ripping prey to shreds with their extremely sharp teeth and claws. However, due to how slow they are, they have to rely on ambush tactics to catch their prey.
Their claws, located on both of their hands and both of their feet, are so sharp that they are easily capable of piercing through stone. Because of this, Crawlers have the ability to crawl on the walls of their caves and crawl across the ceilings.
They have become so adjusted to a life without natural light that direct sunlight burns their skin. Even the light from a match is said to cause them great pain.
A Crawler colony can number in the thousands with the leader of the colony being determined by size.
Their native range is scattered throughout North and South America. The farthest North that they have ever been seen is Denali National Park while the furthest South that they have ever been seen is the Patagonian Desert. However, they cannot be found on any of the island nations in the Caribbean.
Due to the fact that many of the caves they inhabit are prone to flooding, Crawlers are master swimmers.
They appear to be immune to the effects of Carbon Monoxide. As a matter of fact, it would appear that being exposed to it somehow temporarily enhances their strength and speed.
Extra Fun Fact: Exploring an abandoned Crawler cave is what inspired Neil Marshal to make " The Descent."
