Animal Class: Annelid
Diet: Carnivorous
Like their name suggests, they naturally live in Mongolia and they tend to stick to the parts of it that are desert, but a few small populations have been seen in China and Kazakhstan.
To defend themselves, they can fire a poison from their mouth that melts things like acid or if they are touched they can release an electric discharge like an Electric Eel.
Can tunnel through sand at over 100 miles per hour. ( the highest recorded speed has been 117 miles per hour)
They hibernate deep underground during really cold times or when food and water are scarce.
Lay between 10 to 20 eggs at once and leave them to fend for themselves, but the stories that they lay their eggs in the intestines of dead camels is a myth. They actually lay them deep underground. ( It is thought that they bury them even lower that the places they would hibernate in)
They tend to prey on Camels,Gazelle, and Ibex and have been known to fight with Snow Leopards, Bears, and Wolves over carcasses.
They are immune to their own venom and electricity , so when they fight each other for food or mating rights they have to resort to using their teeth and brute strength.
Like some other species of worm, if a Mongolian Death Worm is cut in half, the head end will grow a new tail and the tail end will grow a new head creating two separate Mongolian Death Worms, but the one that had to grow a head will never be able to fire poison from its mouth.
Extra Fun Fact: Since the venom of a Mongolian Death Worm is able to melt through metal, many bank robbers in Asia have started using it to break into bank vaults. Many Asian banks have been trying to find a stronger type of metal that can't be melted by the venom to use for their bank vaults, but they are currently having no luck.
